I put my order in for one a couple of months back. Unfortunately, I'm on a waiting list due to a few of the options I chose, and the particular set-up. The car is promised for delivery to me in April 2008. I'm waiting patiently, and it sucks to wait so long. I hate black vehicles though. I'm paying just a tad more for mine than the E-bay ad you posted, due to options, colors, and the simple fact that I'm not accepting one of their "Run of the mill" CL-65's. I put a post up, a while ago, back when I put the order in through the Mercedes Dealer.

What color and options did you get that make you wait?

Matt SD300 11-23-2007 10:43 PM

Boring...........200k what a waste...........

Hatterasguy 11-23-2007 11:27 PM

Wait a year get it for $100k.:D For $200k might as well spend some more and get an F430. The depreciation on those big AMG's is steep. I'd lease it if thats possible.

For me, it's overpriced.
But, if you can afford to use money as toilet paper, then why not.

All of the big-body MB's are cool, and you have to see the AMG interiors side-by-side with a normal S-Class MB to appreciate the quality of materials and the nice execution. 6.3's and 65's are fast too, to a degree that is overkill for a road car, and almost obscene in a big 4-5 passenger luxury car. I'd just feel a little silly spending $200K for a car that, to the casual observer looks just like the $95K one your cheap neighbor bought.

I would never dream of spending anywhere near that kind of money on a depreciating asset, that and I have 7 kids and no hope of ever having that kind of money to throw around, but I work at a dealership and you would be astounded at all the OLD men who buy the AMG cars...it's not all sports guys and young millionaires.

Pete Geither 11-24-2007 07:53 AM

I pity the poor people who would have to accept a "run of the mill" CL65. The shame, the shame.:bigcry::thumbsdow:musicbooh:embarasse

Ordered it in silver, with charcoal, and black interior. Got the heated steering wheel, as well as a host of other little useless options. Some of them however, are not as "In demand" and Get put on waiting lists.

There aren't any "options" for this car. You can only order it in the packages below.

• 40TH Anniversary Edition
• Designo Graphite Edition
• Designo Mystic White Edition
• Designo Espresso Edition

Which one did you order?

It's silver, I don't know what the hell they actually call it though. I picked out the colors from the book/brochure/catalog of choices the dealer let me look through. He had a brochure book, and asked me to point out which items and colors I wanted. I picked out my steering wheel (Then he asked me if I wanted it heated or not), Paint color, and few other items, as well as the two toned interior colors....Silver exterior, with grey and black interior, minimal wood work, and my choice of 5 or six different style wheels. I pointed out the set I wanted, he put it all in the computer, I paid the man his deposite, and was on my way. I don't know the actual names of the colors, or materials. I don't even know the actual names of the colors on the vehicles I've owned for 17 years..the red one, the dark green one, the light green one, the silver ones (many of my vehicles are silver). So call them Choices, if you'd like, I call them options..It's just a matter of the person purchasing the vehicles particular decision.

Silver, with Charcoal (Dark Grey), and black interior...or do you call black midnight or something like that..?

That's the 40th ann. edition as far as I know.

The V12 and AMG cars usualy come pretty much loaded. I think even on the S600 their are only 2-3 actual options, the rest and just color choices.

This is true, but as I said, the options, or "choices" as some might like to call them, are not all the same, and some are on a waiting list. Don't know why, I suppose it's because they are not as "In demand" as some of the rest, and most people just take whatever the dealership has in stock. I would have probably done that also, but they didn't have any of the cars in stock at all, and the nearest one was like 700 miles away at a dealer in indiana, and it was in black. I was not going to have them ship me a car I would only be marginally happy with from that far away. So I ordered it the way I wanted it. Stupid to pay that much money and go through all of that trouble for a vehicle you can't stand to look at to begin with. I can't stand black vehicles of any type. They look OK to me, but I'd never own one.

Deffinately, I cannot wait to get this thing. I'm already working on a name for her, and I still have a long wait. Nameing a car, can be harder than you think sometimes. I suppose it will be easier once I spend a little bit of time behind the wheel and sort of "Get to know her". Nameing my vehicles, has always been something I've taken seriously, for some strange reason. Perhaps because in a name, comes a certain animation. Like a pet, or child...

I believe the name should reflect the attitude, or characteristics of the vehicle in a way.
