Need help keeping friends crazy mom away from his truck, which is at my house

Ok, long story short, my 17 year old friends mom is absolutly nuts. He bought a 95 blazer with a bad engine for $750. He took the engine out, and ran out of money to put an engine (that he had) into it... Mainly because she kicked him out, and drained his bank accounts. She did this for a month before he could get a different bank account (had direct deposit) She then reported him as a runaway after the money stopped comming in.

So the truck's got the engine out of it, and it was at my house. She showed up with a tow truck, waving some check stub saying she bought it. She doesnt have the title (he does), I told them to f off, and parked my truck infrount of it... Then I hid it.

TO BE CONTINUED......... rawr

You wouldn't happen to be dating a girl who used to own a BMW and abandoned it would you?

Tell the son what she did; but I agree...run from this mess. This kid is still a minor and she sorta owns him and everything he has. Get that truck off your property or you could be in trouble.
You can Call family services, the police or whoever has it in their power to officially help. Make all the calls you want. But don't take things into your own hands.
I know it is so easy to get sucked in to unfair crappy situations like this; but you are putting yourself and family at risk in interfering.

While it is tempting to help out a buddy and if it were me I'd be conflicted, but this sounds like it could devolve into an epic $h!tstorm with you in the middle of it.

my friend lost his job because she showed up and started *****ing him out in fount of customers, and told the manager if he didnt fire him, that she'd find a way to get him in trouble.

The guy has NOTHING, no car, no job, and there's no dad in the picture (he got smart and LEFT... still sends a child support check though)

This truck could easily sell for $3000 once it's back together and running again. It's in mint shape, too bad someone never changed their coolant. Anyways, it's really his only option, fix it, sell it, buy a different car to drive to work and whatnot...

I'm going to end up buying the parts to put it back together, and once he sells it I'll just ask to be paid back (like $100 or so for gaskets and misc crap)

He has the title, it's signed in his name, just not registered yet...

Her apparent goal is to ruin him because he hates her. I'm allready involved, as is my mom. She's come over to my house and asked to drive the truck home. Then *****ed out my mom and me for "harboring a runaway drug addict"
The kid's not doing drugs, as he's stayed at my house many times before...

How can I keep the truck stored, and be able to prove it's not stolen, and she doesnt own it? It's locked somewhere. He's got the title, not her. Her name's not on the title or anything.

This story is long and stupid. She's crazy, and wants the truck because she doesnt want her son to have anything.

My job is to keep the truck hidden untill it's fixed, and then sold...

Too late, I'm not ditching my friend because I'm afraid of his skitso mom.
Buyer beware is right, but, too much bad stuff's happened to him because of her, it's dumb.

Also, on a side note, she screwed me outta $50 worth of fuel. When I got back from basic, my car wasnt driveable. So, I asked my friend if I could borrow his truck, under the persumption that I'd fill it with gas and drive it around for a week, or untill I found a different car.
We wrote up a little contract, she signed it, he signed it, I signed it.

I drove it for a day, and she called the cops on me for "joyriding in her truck" and made me give it back after filling it up from empty and driving it for 30 miles.
Again, my friend paid for that truck too...

A while ago, my girlfriend was at my house during the day (when mom was at work and I was at school), and said that a black car drove through the yard... She drives a black passat... Just drive up the driveway, went through the yard, circled the house, and left. Probably looking for it or something, but wtf???

Should I report that to the cops or something? The tracks are covered with snow, and I doubt I'd beable to prove they were hers... but still should I?

Anyone feel like helping me?
~Nate

There's a reason why police dread getting domestic dispute calls. Nobody wins! Kind-hearted by-standers get hurt . . .

As his friend I think you are best off finding a lawyer to help him with emancipation proceedings.

He turns 18 in march, we allready talked to a cop and he said by the time the legal ball gets rolling, he's gonna be 18 anyways.

He's just stuck right now. Thank you for the first usefull suggestion thus far though, means alot to me.

Have him investigate the courts dealing with her throwing him out and still collecting support checks. Maybe some judge will get a bit ticked at that. A DRO against her going anywhere near him might be good too. Has she ever hit him or threatened him in front of witnesses? Sounds like he might be better off as a ward of the court for the next four months. At least he might be able to have a job.

Like everyone else said, stay out of it.

Now, having said that, you seem determined to stand by your friend. I can respect that. Have him flip the title to you by selling it to you for a nominal sum, like a dollar or something. Now the truck belongs to you and is situated on your property. Now you've got the police on your side if she trespasses or damages your property. When he gets the truck fixed up you can flip it back to him for the same sum.
