I'm in the club now
 

It's official.. I'm a true Mercedes owner now.. I'm in MBCA, Central FL chapter... I mainly wanted in for The Star but there is a car show next month the day before my bday that I'm going to go with the club... of course I'm the only one with an 85 300D...

my mom signed me up for my xmas gift.. two year membership.. the best gift I got :). I'll get my membership package in a week

Does your chapter do tech sessions at the local dealers or Indies? We have 6 a year where we get to use the shops from 8am to 12n. They also have a few techs wandering around giving instruction and what not. Neat deal if you need to work on your car and you have never done it before and need someone to look over your shoulder. I replaced the tie rods on the E300. Nice to have the car up on a lift instead of me on my back crawling under it.

We also get parts from MB at 10% above Wholesale. BIG savings.

Where's the show? Just curious...

I got my membership for Christmas too from my parents. I don't think however my chapter does anything. Oh well. I will just have to enjoy the magazine I guess. Can't wait for the dealer discount though.

If your local chapter does not do things, take a lot at any other within driving distance. I have never had a bad time at a club event. Some of the nicest folks around, has been my experience. They even overlook the fact I'm a complete moron.

Which will be a great thing, until you both get there and discover it consists of a bunch of fat, rich, old white men who care more about eating than about Mercedes Benz cars. Thenm she would be pi$$ed at you for taking her there.

I hope your chapter doesn't turn out to be top-heavy with people like that.

I was invited by a friend to the winter banquet... and most of them seemed more interested in it...

thats all these old people have left... all drove newer E to S-Class cars... but have owned a Mercedes from day one... none of them wrench or tune :(

its not like the VW scene (AC or WC)... makes me want to ditch the benz and get an AC so I can go to events like I want to go to :(

We usually have an autocross every year, a day at the dealership, rally or two (sometimes with an overnight stay at the destination), and of course a few lunches or dinners at local places. All kinds of cars in the local group. Some of them did get a kick out of me doing a burnout at the start line of the autocross last year, in my SDL! (not sure if it helped my time)

MBCA's membership is either going to continue to be a subset of AARP or have to find a way to attract new, younger members. Unfortunately, it seems that MBUSA and most of the dealership network don't view the club as a big asset or resource, which is a shame.

it is... I was told by some of the members that I am the future of the club and some other things.. a few recommended I write a column or something for the newsletter or even try to get into The Star
