18 Wheel drivers conspiracy - Long rant.

This has happened too many times to be a coincidence. In front of our shop is a 3 lane road. Beside our shop is an intersecting street with no traffic light, only a stop sign for people entering the main street. On dozens of occasions over the years, big trucks have stopped in the center lane, and allowed space in front of their trucks for people coming from the opposite direction to go in front of them and go down the side street. I hope you can follow this. Of course, the people turning in front of the trucks can not see traffic in the third lane coming, and too often it results in an accident that has produced much mayhem and injuries over the years. Of course the trucker just goes on his merry way after being the main culprit in the accident. I am beginning to believe that the truckers do this on purpose just for kicks,,,, it has happened too many times to think there are that many stupid truck drivers. I know they would be stupider still to admit their intentional involvement, but it almost happened to me yesterday and I could see the smile on the truckers face.

What's the purpose of stopping in the center lane...........stop for coffee.......waste time.........waiting for a load.........???

The center lane is the turning lane for the main road???

The center lane is not far from an intersection and traffic routinely backs up past the shop.

I doubt they do it just to cause accidents.

A lot of tractor trailers will take the left lane so that they have room to make the tighter right hand turn. Especially if it's an area they aren't familiar with.

That's an interesting theory. I used to have a CB radio some years back and would listen to the truckers. A scrappy foul-mouthed bunch, by and large I felt that most of them were just hard working souls trying to make a living. I was, however, sometimes disturbed by the downright venomous hate some of them directed at 4-wheelers (and occasionally each other). It was somewhat understandable, given the atrocious driving habits so many knucklehead car drivers display on the road, but disturbing nevertheless.

A professional driver would surely be aware of the dangers this particular situation presents, and I guess it shouldn't be surprising if a few of them would find this stunt amusing. That smile you saw on his face is worrisome.

I think they're trying to funnel business to you, Pete.

This is a lane they have to be in to make a left turn 100 yards up the street.
