Anything to do in San Diego?

I'll be their all next week, Sunday to Saturday yanking a Swan 46 apart for cross country transport. I'll be staying at the "Vagabond Inn on Point Loma", sounds like a freaken rat hole, hopefully it delivers more than the name promises! I have NFC as to why I am doing this project, I havn't worked on a boats for a year, for old times sake I guess. After food I'm not making any money, well maybe $100. I also have a house closing on the 28th and I think an offer coming in on Sunday/Monday on another. Cool the phone bill should be amazing! Mental note, nothing is ever free!

So is their anything to do in SD? Any museum's, good bars, or Mercedes related activities? Any good strip or jazz clubs? I'm wondering what the housing market looks like out their, if I find it I'll hit up the local Re/Max office.

Yeah I know that. I was going to compare there prices to ours for fun, and wanted to see what percentage drop they are seeing in average sale value, and volume, also some forclosure numbers would be interesting. Our percentage drop for sales volume is starting to get scary, its starting to look like the late 80's. However price's remain strong, just slightly trending down...

Just for fun.

I was in San Diego last weekend for a little bit of work and a lot of R & R with my wife and kids.

You need to check out the Gas Lamp district.

It is several streets long for about 10 blocks or so, full of great restaurants, bars, etc. San Diego has some of the best restaurants in the country, on par with San Francisco or Chicago (but not New York ).

You can check out an aircraft carrier near the convention center, which is along the waterfront adjacent to the gas lamp district.

Just across a highway bridge is Coronado Island, a very upscale town with a huge Navy presence. It is definitely worth the visit.

There is also Sea World and The San Diego Zoo that you can visit right there in the city.

About a 20 minute drive north in Escondido is The San Diego Wild Animal Park, which has animals in a traditional zoo setting, but also lots of animals walking around in very, very large fenced-off areas that you can see on tram rides. It's kind of like seeing what they'd be like in the wild.

Thanks one of the guys in our group is a former Navel Officer who was stationed their for a bit. He is going to be our guide, if I get a chance I'm going to check out the aircraft carrier.

I second (third?) the Gaslamp district. Museum of Death if you're into morbid stuff. There are some tide pools at Point Loma that are kind of interesting. When I was there last there was a nudist/swinging club called Thad's. Also the groups I was there with always wanted to eat at Planet Hollywood. Not bad. Coronado Island is interesting, more so if you're military and can wander the bases there.
