Angry Couple Gets $99,999 Electric Bill For Mobile Home

http://www.wlbz2.com/news/watercooler/article.aspx?storyid=79124

Richard Grieshop and Lynda Williams live in a one-bedroom mobile home in Tampa.

Both use wheelchairs and live on fixed incomes.

"When I called down to have this taken care of, I was told that this came directly from the corporate office and that there was nothing I could do other than pay this amount," Grieshop said. "I have no idea how I ended up with a $100,000 electric bill. There's no way. I don't think anyone uses that in a lifetime."

A power company spokesperson later blamed the bill on a system error, and says the couple won't have to pay.

Bills over a couple grand usually bring in the DEA

Billing errors do happen Mix in the fixed income and wheels chairs and it sounds like a frivolous lawsuit waiting to happen.[pain & suffering]

Actually -
The "smart" thing is to tap in just upstream of the meter to a separate panel, like all the other big time home growers do.

(No. That's not where any of our money came/comes from. We just see these things on TV. I think Holmes on Homes did a rebuild of a grow house.)

I hired a local electrician to upgrade the wiring in the garage a few years ago, he was a cool semi-retired fellow who gave me a good deal. Mostly because I hung out with him all day and was his helper.

Anyways, he casually mentioned that he was once hired by the parents of a teenager to dismantle a grow room the kid had built under his bedroom. The room had plywood walls, fans, grow lights, and a table and chairs, with access through a trap door under his bed. The kid had tapped into the panel box to run the grow lights, and pops dicovered the kids secret when the electric bills got really high.

He said the kid had 47 full size plants down there. I didn't ask or want to know what he did with the plants.

Talk about things happening under your nose.
