Smart car dealerships near you

who has one by you? I have one in Orlando and have arranged a test drive. Go ahead and laugh.. Don likes smart cars.. etc... I like small european cars and have wanted to test a smart ever since I read about them 3 years ago. I remember ForcedInduction test drove one and said it basicly.. sucked... That is of course his opinion.. I might say its sucks since I have driven the new S-Class a couple of times and nothing is better than that!

If I like it I'll put down the $100 for a reservation and save up all my pennies until my number is called(yea like.. next year)

You are pretty lucky, FL has quite a few dealerships. I am sort of caught in the middle - Dallas or Atlanta. If the opportunity arises I would test one without expecting it to be like an S class.

Without a diesel, the novelty just isn't enough for me. Although I'm of above average height and girth I've always had a fascination with microcars so I've got nothing against its size. It's just that for that size it ought to be getting a lot better than mpg's in the 30's.

I bet it can get 40's in it because I weigh 120 lbs soaking wet...

I hope to get a test drive next week..

The waiting list is like a year long which I am ok with. It will give me time to build up some credit and savings. I figure I can have at least 5k this time next year with my normal spending habbits and 8k if I sell the benz(an option)..All depends on the test

I am planning a test drive for next weekend, when I am back home.

What sucks the most is the Orlando dealership is charging the highest in the country for "doc fees" $799.. serious gouging... the place up in JAX is charging $479.. more reasonable but still high... these cars better not pull a Wii and sell on egay for 30k

I'd more or less get financing through my bank because I've been with them for a while and they treat me good.

insurance will be fun.. Rumor has it that GEICO(current company) is the cheapest in FL.. we'll see how that goes if I can get a quote (with the benz removed)

Insurance could be a lot of fun, as such a small vehicle won't need much of a whack to be written off.

the more I read into the smart car USA forum the more I am turned off by the Penske Automotive Group..

1) shortest warrenty ever

2) ploys to sell you an "extended warrenty" which is nothing more than insurance and you have to pay $100 for the smallest repair

3) questionable engine reliablility..

screw it.. I'll get a 190D

IIRC they're one of The Swede's PITA accounts.

Goes for the driver too. Better look at life insurance if you're gonna drive one of those on an American freeway with American drivers...
Just my opinion but I'm not interested in risking my life to save $12.00 per month on gasoline. Also, where I live, the winds that blow nearly every day would take that car right off the road, especially when meeting an 18-wheeler out in the open.

have you seen the video on youtube with a crash test of an S-class vs Smart? Brutal. No way I wanna be in a smart when the guy behind me has a lifted F-350 with a huge brush guard and can't see me in a smart cause my roofline is under his hoodline.

That goes for a motorcycle, too. But it doesn't keep me from riding and motorcycle vs. car loses every time.
