Mardi Gras

This year I'm driving a float carrying a band for a Mardi Gras in Eunice. We'll be collecting food for a gumbo. An educational experience for PETA members, too!

First you have to catch the chickens.

Come pass a good time, chers.

I really need to go down there and experience a real Mardi Gras. (I'll put it on my "Bucket List".) Seattle does a big bash every year, but I never went downtown for it. Too many drunk idiots beating on each other.
Oh, wait, maybe that's part of the celebration.

I hung out with the new fresh out of college HS football coach from Eunice at a wedding a coupla years ago. Nice guy. If you happen to run into him, which is a distinct possibility as he is very large and Eunice is very small, mention his college roomate's wedding where the power went out at the hotel, church, and country club the day of the August wedding. He will remember my valiant beer/ice run to the next Parish that saved the groom's wedding party

the courir that I'll be with is the mixed-sex, mixed race one that is HUGE. Last year they had an estimated 1,000 horsemen. I can only imagine how chotic that's going to be!

damn, i know eunice has a branch of lsu , but seems like the sign when you enter the 'town' off the esterwood/iota exit from i-10 says something like pop. 9k or so? thats a big party.

then again the duck festival regularly brings in over 50K in three days.....

There's an odd symmetry in misspelling "chaotic".

I heard today while having lunch with my wifes uncle, that all float riders in your Sat Laff parade under 12 must have a parent or guardian walk alongside the float for the entire duration of the route. Talk about chaotic--think of how many kids will be on each float!! 'course mostly bein mackeral snappers, maybe one guardian for each 8 offspring won't be so bad

We buzz down to Spring TX tomorrow night.
Will head into Galveston on Saturday.
Will be in the 10th Annual Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Mardi Gras Parade on Sunday, with two decked out little dogs (our friend’s Schnauzers).
Should be fun. (For the kids, anyway.)
After that – Food and Beer.

We’re counting on our 10 and 8 year olds to get us back home.
