Congrats Giants fans!
(and Patriot haters)
They were the better team on the field in all aspects. The usually stout Pats O-line was positively sieve-like (Brady earned his paycheck yesterday!) and the secondary routinely gave up on the play when the D-line was applying some pressure. The better team won. My only saving grace is that I'm not a $h!t-talker with friends and co-workers so they'll probably be easy on me. And I told you I had an eery feeling like the Pats-Rams SB! |
See - this is why I can tolerate you. I'm eating crow too - I openly doubted/mocked Manning and didn't think he could perform at that level. Well, he did.
I LOVE that the Giants won without Tiki Barber and Shockey though - that I do enjoy. |

This Giants team reminds me of the 2000 Giants. Only this time the Giants won.

I read a quote in the paper this morning that I laughed out loud at.....Coach toomer said of (was it tyler?) the guy who caught the circus catch after manning popped out of the sure sack in mid field on the final drive..
...."He was dropping everything on Friday...". Tom W |
My condolences, Swamp. I didn't really have a stake in this Super Bowl, but i hated to see the Patriots season end like this.

Steve Smith and that rookie filling in for Shockey played well too. Turk and Osi-whatever played outstanding too. Adalius Thomas was playing out of his mind.....had he stripped that ball from Eli, like he did previously.....different story. |
It was certainly a great hard fought game. From what I could see it looked pretty clean too. I noted some guys helping the other side up and smiling and chuckling from time to time.
That is sportsmanship....to bad about the coach. Tom W |
I've never really followed or rooted for the Pats until this season where I made the mistake of following it all, long before the "perfect season" crap. Well I'm not a Pats fan anymore. Any team that shows up to a SB after a record season and pulls that *****ty performance doesn't deserve my interest. Brady, regardless of the pressure, missed several key passes. Just missed them, receiver wide open. Too much time with his head between Giselle's legs I guess. Matt Light should be shot for the two offsides penalties. When you get paid that much and are in a SB it is unacceptable. Guess he was to busy making Fagan Door commercials. The rest of the offensive line should be fired outright. If you can't do the damned job then move aside and let them get someone else. What a travesty. Congrats to the Giants. At least they showed up to play. RT

The Giants also made some critical errors in terms of penalties and special teams..........and the outcome would have gone the other way with the exception of the miracle 4th down play. |
Well, maybe.
The Giants were so fired up if that one had missed they may have done it on the next play. (it wasn't fourth down was it?) But your point is that it was just so close it could have gone either way and that is for sure. Yeah, maybe the pats got too busy reading their press! Tom W |

Without a first.........game over. |
I'm sure Swamp will clarify - those plays will be etched in his mind like the Eagles bumbling plays still are for me.
Jacobs got 2 yards on a 4th and 1, I believe. The miracle catch came later..... It absolutely could have gone either way though. Bill Curry was on ESPN radio and he's always fascinating to listen to....he was putting things in perspective (he was on the 15-1 Colts team that was upset by Broadway Joe). Usually I can't tolerate sports talk radio before/after the SB.....but it was good this morning. |
I just googled the circus catch. third and five.

There's some measure of luck involved in all competition. It is the job of each competitor to minimize the effect of luck on the other team. The Giants did a great job, the Pats did a sucky job.
