Canon Digital camera story

This isn't spam.

My Canon Elph sd100 started taking weird purplish/blackish pictures, its a couple years old, and has been most of the way around the world w/ me, it has survived countless hard knocks, but I figgered I'd check on the photo discussion boards just in case it was something simple. And lo and behold I found this...

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&keycode=2112&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8776

No matter how old the camera, Canon is fixing it for FREE, including free shipping! They already sent me the prepaid UPS label.

Pretty sweet, a stand-up company that I would certainly buy from again.

By contrast, my dads kodak digital camera stopped working in less than a year b/c of a crummy plastic gear in the opening mechanism that failed... After admitting that their design was flawed, they wouldn't take the product back, they wouldn't fix the product.

Just an fyi for y'all

Dad has A Canon now.

That's a much happier CANON story than I can share :(

o.k. we're waiting. you simply can't make a statement like that and keep us in the dark.

No company's perfect, but I've always felt that Canon was a great company with good products. I sold them for years (even though I owned Nikons). Now I have a Canon digital camera and love it.

No kidding, what a cheap shot.

I'm going to wait and see what develops. I'll withhold judgment until we have the whole picture.

ugh...slow day at the office.

Snap out of it!

I'm going to leave the enlargement pun to Mistress.

Digital photography has ruined it for me. I can no longer say, "Hey, baby, let's go in the darkroom and see what develops." On the other hand, I don't think using that line ever worked . . .

I think that scam's been exposed already.

Dee8go 02-13-2008 05:16 PM

Over exposed!

Kuan 02-13-2008 06:09 PM

So did you really try that line? Did you get a negative response?

My Canon was about 4 years old, I dropped it once and the display ceased working. I called them, they told me about their upgrade program - for $100 thet sent me a new model (that cost $280 at Walmart) and a return label, sent the old one back in the supplied box postpaid. I will support that kind of company!

Got my camera back! it is fixed and very clean. I am happy.
