#1 favorite movie..?

Anyone out there have a movie they watch daily, or atleast weekly ?

One that you cannot help but watch, no matter what else is happening, even if it is just back-ground noise many of the times you put it on the tube...?

I can't help it, but I have this everlasting obsession with ;"The Hunt, for Red October"

I work from 3pm, 'til 11 pm monday through friday. I have a ton of movies in my collection, yet I find myself watching it sometimes twice a day, for approximately the past three (3) years. I watch it, Once before, and once after work sometimes.

This is not new, it's been going on for a number of years as I said. It is only this one movie. I have every word, sound, and scene memorized, as well as all of the flaws, from filming and authenticity, acuracy to real life, and even a few real classified bits of info, which were accidentally exposed during filming/making of the movie.
(One scene, On the USS Dallas, navigators were in the background, talking about some scanner technology, of which was actually top secret/classified, and was considered to be a breach of security after the movie was released) Writers, and directors had to answer for where they got the dialogue for the movie scenes as a result.

I was just wondering, am I alone in this..?

Does it strike anyone as weird, that someone could watch a movie so often..?

Most other, movies I could see once or twice, and be bored with, or tired of quickly.(With the exception of "Space Balls" and "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Gallaxy".) I still don't watch them that often though.

This one in particular however, seems to be just as exciting, every time I put it on.

It is a somewhat "Dated" movie, with old school technology, not a lot of action, and limited degree of intensity. Alec Baldwin was a young actor, Sean Connery was already a legend, and John McTiernnan, hadn't done much previous work. For some reason, this movie, to me, is somewhat of a "Masterpiece"

Serious oppinions..?

Nick

Try "Das Boot". Maybe it will cure the situation. I recommend the original language version w/ English subtitles.

LOL! As do I. And it is broadcast enough times that my daughter rolls her eyes at me when she looks over at the TV while passing though..."Oh my God Dad! Not THAT movie again???!!!"

What is peculiar is that I don't own the DVD...and if I did, I probably wouldn't watch it!

My wife is the same way...she never misses "An American President", "You've Got Mail", and "As Good As it Gets"...again, no DVDs!

None that I watch that often. But if "Blues Brothers" or "Smokey and the Bandit" are on, I'm watching them.

Same here. I can also watch "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger" over and over. Tom Clancy books make good movies.

I couldn't tell you the last time I've seen a movie.....but Shawshank Redemption used to stop me in my tracks, every single time. Rocky Horror and Heavy Metal too. I also had a strange affinity for cheesy movies like Footloose and Roadhouse? I fear I've shared too much.

EDIT: I stand corrected, I HAVE seen a movie lately and this one's really bad....my daughters won't stop watching "The Sound of Music".....so I've been walking around my house the last couple of weeks pretending to be the Captain and calling my wife "fuehrlein" - no idea how to spell that....but now I've really shared too much. Edelweiss is a bangin' tune too.

I think these two movies are great and I will watch them whenever they're on.

My wife and I also like all the movies you mentioned Jordan. A newer one I'm finding I like is The World's Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins.

Don't have a single one I watch over and over, but there are some I like to watch repeatedly and they don't seem to lose their impact -

Blade Runner
Das Boot
A Shot In The Dark (or any of the Pink Panther series)

I'm also a big fan of The Painted Veil for some reason.
