Angry Utah students hide guns, head to class

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/20/cnnu.guns/index.html

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (CNN) -- The senior at the University of Utah gets dressed and then decides which gun is easiest to conceal under his clothes.

And you wonder why shootings are getting common in these places.

Taking guns to school is OK? What if he gets provoked over an argument and goes on a shooting spree? Maybe they ought to make guns mandatory for each and every students going to school.

.......banning them from every person who is within 200 yards of the school hasn't exactly worked out very well, either..........

wrong

This is exactly the kind of person you would be praying for to save your ass If you were stuck in a bad situation.

You'd be running for your life, knocking people over and he'd probably be thinking about taking available cover and acquiring a sight picture.

Nothing wrong with taking responsibility for your own safety.

Your brief and unsophisticated comment will unleash a firestorm on this thread.

Are you sure about the sanity of the person carrying the gun. He probably will get a megalomaniac moment and shoot others just because he had an argument of sorts. I know gun restrictions in schools haven't worked but then should all students be packing?

Yeah, you are right. Calling 911 is much better. See how well it worked out. Why don't we just have people with their hands on their cell phones and speed dial 911

Good so all the students and teachers should carry guns and make school dodge city. Point is a mad person will go on rampage and inflict damage with a gun before he can be put down by another person with a gun. Its matter of chance, reaction and timing in these situations. The only persons who should be allowed to carry guns should be the school security.

I can't tell yet if you are being serious. Yes. Any student who wants to carry a weapon should be able to do so. Read the second amendment (no age or mental competency restrictions)

Which do you think will occur first? The guy gets put down by someone/some people with guns or the security gets there? Would it be better to put him down sooner or later? Me, I think sooner but if you were in that room, you can opt for later if you want.

How well has that worked out when a shooter presented himself? Are they in every room within 100 yards of each other? Every second later they are could be one more dead or wounded person. You willing to wait? I'd rather have the ability to defend myself than to wait for someone to call somebody else and have that somebody else come to do something about it.

But you do enjoy the gore and blood of course, even better if the students are all Muslims

Take the military scenario. A shooter can get into a camp and take out quite a few soldiers before being put down. Same scenraio applies to this situation.
