Rush Limbaugh
What kind of people listen to and like Rush Limbaugh?
The taxi driver I had today was from Mass (born in Tiverton but grew up in Mass) and he liked and listened to Rush Limbaugh. |

I'm guessing that people who hate the Northwest, live in Arizona and tote guns like him. I think he was happier when he was on the narcotics.

I don't think I would like a lefty who told me what to think any better.

He's the #1 radio host by far, so his audience is huge.
I agree with his position and general conservatism, however I can't stand to hear him on the radio. He thinks he is bigger than the story, just like O'Reilly. They like to hear themselves talk too much. I read the Rush web site so I can get the news without having to listen to him. O'Reilly is several notches below Rush on the intelligence scale, and if you notice his guests are usually lightweights if they are liberal, and usually well known hitters if conservative.

I used to listen to him back in the 90s and early 00s...I got the humor and understood where he was coming from...the parodies themselves were, usually, one-hit wonders...sometimes played a bit too much...but overall, better than normal "yack" radio or sports-talk...at the time...
But now, I'm more of a sports-talk kind of guy...I don't really give a snit about Clemmens or who shot who's butt with peanut butter fluff or any of that... But when some libby has something to trash Rush about...like an old friend, I'll find out as much as I can (without holding my nose or listening to the "chicken-littles" of the left and their insipid comments to the detriment of normal reasoning) and then decide how much time and effort to waste counter-acting the "press" and their minions... Like anyone else, Rush has had his ups and downs (pill-popping that nearly led him to permanent deafness...there's a side effect that would scare anyone normal off from drugs...) and has probably outlasted many who thought they were better and morally superior to him... May he continue to grace this nation's airwaves...others have tried and failed...but he seems to have what it takes to stay the course and stay on the air. I may still make up a bumper-sticker that I've had floating in the back of my mind yet... "IF YOU AIN'T "RUSH'N" - YOU AIN'T AMERICAN!" And, if you're a libby and you are listenin' to Rush...at least you have the 'nads to hear the other side...you don't have to tell anyone...at least you're expandin' the limits of your mind...something that both sides of any issue needs to do.

It is interesting when people who do not listen proffer opinions on Rush.
While some of his schtick gets old, he is a very good political analyzer. As for negativity, that is preposterous! He is a most positive and upbeat individual. He does attack political people for their politics but only rarely descends to the personal level. He is negative on the promises of the left--but then what have those promises produced that is positive? Has the left solved poverty? They have run on it for generations. How about racism? They have run on that for generations, too, yet it still exists. How about the decline in our public schools?--The Left has used " for the children" as an excuse for throwing money at the schools yet there is no improvement. Millions of average American home school or use private schools because of the failure of the Leftist-run public schools. Is that a success? The Left wants to be judged on their ideals; but do not look at their results! Rush publicizes the continuing failure of the Left and their ideas, and they hate him for it. Listen sometime. Callers who disagree with Rush are pushed to the head of the line. Very few of them can avoid making insulting comments about Rush. They cannot, or choose not to discuss the merits of the argument. He has the largest radio audience of any talk show. His audience is larger than some/many cable news and commentary shows. His opinions reflect maybe half the population of this country. How can you discount him? Those who describe his audience as " mind-numbed robots" have no idea of which they speak. Rush's audience listens because he reflects what they think; not the other way around. Before you offer an opinion on Rush you really should listen, maybe for a week or two.Until you know what you are talking about, your opinion has little value.

I've listened to him on and off since 1994; I like his take on things and I don't think he's nearly as full of hot air as the liberals like to display. I certainly don't think he's a "nabob of negativity" either - his message is very positive and he ultimately believes that only the individual can help themselves, and if most individuals did help themselves we'd have a better country.
His examples and demonstrations can be a tad extreme, but the guy is an excellent analyzer of political situations - whether you agree with him or not.

I don't get to hear much daytime radio, mainly because I have to work for a living during the day. Whenever I hear Limbaugh, he just strikes me as a self centered loudmouth gassbag. Despite that, he is usually correct about anything political.
I do like to listen to Mark Levin during the drive home. He is certainly not afraid to tell it like it really is. I used to try to catch Air Hate America sometimes, but they went belly up in this market a couple years ago. I guess Al Farken and Randy Redds just didn't have the right message.

I listened to him back in the 1980's in California when he was just starting; i couldn't believe what he saying over the airwaves...so politically incorrect; but it was what normal people were thinking. I tuned him in in Sacramento and my wife's jaw just dropped open;.. she quipped "can he say those things???" I thought he was going to be murdered or something by the things he was saying; nobody talked like 'that' on the airwaves.
Then he got a big head, and was so negative & nasty and left me so angry at all sorts of phantoms I had to stop listening to his poison. I tune in about once a year for entertainment; and he is still a broken record. I haven't missed a thing; he is a 'Johnny one note'.

He worked at promoting potato chips in Kansas City.
That was the high point of his life's work. He got fired.

I have listened to him before.
It only takes minutes to know that I am not interested in his points. He is a bombasitc, bullying, blowhard, IMHO. I am a conservative Democrat.....hardly a far lefty. People who attack the public school system mostly would like to replace it with private schools. We used to have that. Only the wealthy got an ecucation. The failures of public schools are much exxagerated. Most places they are doing a fine job. In the places they are failing it is more of a failure of the culture in that place. Tom W

He's a bloated, egotistical hypocrite. I have to deal with enough of those daily, and I don't need to listen to more of that on the radio.
