Nah, that's not sacrelige.

Now when I pick up an off lease Mahindra diesel PU truck in 2012, that will be sacrelige.

That's a nice Bimmer!

Welcome to the dark side... muah muah muah...

It will get you there fast, but your a$$ will feel every pebble on the road. I'm sore after roadtrips, otherwise, I love mine.

yeah, i know. the one thing i dislike about sports is it brings out the worst in me. i was smiling when buffalo lost 10 in a row last month and downright giddy when sid cousteau had to be out for a month w/ the high ankle sprain

Nice! I'd love that same car but with a manual and the V8!

How quick is it? I have driven a 328XI and it was kinda slow.

kind of like the way people describe the 300se compared to the 500 and 560 cars. i own a 300se and never had a problem w/ the performance. i haven't really "driven" this bmw yet but it seemed to get up ok on the test drive. my brother has an e39 m5 and it's nothing like that beast but i would be ok w/ it

The E39 series was the last good looking 5-series car, those new Bangle-ized 5's are a nightmare to look at. Hope you enjoy it.

The 528i is a fun car -- not fast, but a pleasure to drive.

I like the driving dynamics of the BMW much more than Merc, lots of feedback. E.g. My 740i is a decent sized car, but almost drives as well as the old M3.

Have fun with it!!

Wonderful cars.

Very last of the good lookin' 5 series.

A close friend got one of the last ones, it was an '02 or an '03, a 525i. I got a ride a few times, and I love the car. It's great and something might that might pull me away from my 560SEC.

Compared to it, driving the 560SEC is like dancing with a really fat lady who can dance really really well., I think.

I actually asked him if he would sell it to me, but he said "line forms on the right" (all his friends want that car, it only has 23,000 on the clock and is mint) but he will never sell it.

The one thing he regrets about it is that it is slow. He wishes he had bought the 530i instead.

I tried out the 540ia Sport (the automatic one) back when it was new, for about 20 minutes at Peter Pan BMW (the dealer in San Mateo) and woo HOOO...

That thing was smokin' hot!!!! WOW. Fast as hell, and cornered like a slot car. You could get in lot of trouble with one of those, especially if you were young brash and didn't KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS!! Probably the insurance on those, the M3 and M5 is really high on those compared to other cars, guess why!!!!

After that, no need to even THINK about an M5

I am going to keep the SEC anyhow. I just ordered a personalised number plate for it: "BMW SUK" !!!!! hahaha

funny that, beacuse my brother had a 2000 540 w/ a manual trans and he was looking at a 2002 M5 (new). i had driven the 540 from the jersey shore to philly for a concert and on the way up i exited the gsp onto the ac expressway (great exit ramp) at about 105 mph, as you noted 'like a slot car'!! after that we were talking and he said "i never even use all the 540 has, so why would i need an M5?"...three days lated he bought the M5 anyway
