I was walking along in front of the post office this morning. Coming from the other direction were three loud young ladies. The sidewalk there is 10' wide and I was walking all the way to the right. I decided I was not going to walk in the snow and kept walking straight ahead. The young lady closest to me met my upper arm with her shoulder. I did not change any position of my body but simply kept walking.

As I walked away I heard some additional loud talking but could only make out the punch line...."Cracker".

That's a first for me.

I would not have been surprised if they had decided to beat me up.

Sometimes it is difficult to cling to my old fashoned liberal beliefs in the harsh light of reality.

This one time, me (white), my roomate at the time (white), and his girlfriend (Mexican) were hanging out in our apartment talking about high school, and the girlfriend started talking about a class she had taken. Describing the teacher, she said "The teacher was this little old cracker lady" then stopped abrubtly, realized what she just said, and turned very very red. My roomate and I just laughed.
