Unity ticket

The pundits are abuzz with the notion that a unity ticket is the only way to keep the demos from fracturing and handing an improbable victory to McCain.

My thought all along was that Clinton/Obama was the way to go as it would please all those who want a female president and who long to get Bill back. Plus, it would get past the issue of Obama's green-ness. And it would give Obama the chance to learn at the feet of the (barf) masters for 8 years, with him stepping up for 8 more years.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Hillary is going to win a clean victory and I'm not sure she'd be right as VP. She's older than him, and played second fiddle to Bill in a similar position for years.

I just wish the woman didn't give me the willies half the time with that semi-frozen smile. And if they get too unpleasant with their tactics, could keep large numbers of blacks away on election day.

At this point I don't think they could work with eachother. NFW will Clinton take second fiddle, she has already done that, she is playing an all or nothing game.

The scenario becomes more peculiar with every day.

That is a good point. The only way a unity ticket will happen, IMO, is if Hillary manages to get the Fla. and Mich. delegates and starts winning everything in sight.

If Hillary did pull it off and if I was Obama, I'd consider which position would get me/him the most capital. And it seems like most people choose VP - head of the Senate - to merely being a member of the Senate, not to mention all those nifty opportunities to play CEO/CiC in training.

Hillary would never have a VP whose personality and persona is stronger than hers (wouldn't take much). She would have a VP you would never hear from again.

If Obama won it, he would not need her at all. Plus in 8 years nobody would want to see a 68 year old hag running for office.

But if it were to happen, it would be because Obama was looking out for the party above all else. Hillary is all about her, party be damned.

Hard to argue with any of that.

Gee, I might guess you don't like Hillary?

I think she would not accept the vp unless Obama convinced her he needed her. I am not sure if he would accpet the vp or not. It seems more in his interest than hers because of age and her having been there before (sortof). I think a Clinton Obama ticket would be very strong and make sense.

If I were 20 again I probably would be for Obama, but I am still for Hillary at this point.

I think most of the Hillary haters are just not ready for a woman president.

Whoa - the fact that Sen Clinton is a woman does not have a cotton-pickin' thing to do with it.

Give me a Lady Thatcher (minus about 30 years)
Or Angela Merkel
Heck, give me Queen Elizabeth

Conservatives would absolutely support a woman. Just not *THIS* woman.

Read....."most".

Some dems are against her for the same reason, IMHO.

But in the end with the economy in is currently sad state, most Dems, independents and a good share of Republicans will line up and vote for the Dem regardless of whom it happens to be.

I don't know, Rick. The rap that the Dems are trying to stick on McCain is that he's Bush III, replete with indefinate continuance of the military presence in Iraq.

I think that unleaded premium would have to come down to $1.49 a gallon in order to whisk another GOP into the Oval Office.

The Iraq presence is his words, not a rap.

Emmerich stole my answer.
I can see Obama taking the VP role, but I hope he doesn't.

Bush III is not; That was my primary point.
