Audi r8 diesel

I read today in the latest Road and Track that Audi is bringing the r8 out with a v12 turbo diesel and six speed manual. The engine will be based on the one used the last few years to win Le Mans.

I wonder if it is related directly to any of their production engines.

Audis are under-appreciated in the US, but their sales are really taking off in other countries.

Very true, I can attest to the fact that they are very very popular in China (seriously) I saw many many A6's and even a large number of A8's in areas that were just farmland the last time I saw it.

Hong Kong loves their Mercedes (a sea of S550's)and BMW's, and Ferraris and a fair number of A6's and a few A4's....nearly the same distribution in Shanghai.

Korea had a few A6's but mostly BMW's and Mercedes of all classes (C200 Kompressors and quite a few new S550s).

also has 748 ft. lb of torque.

That is half again as much as my dodge truck. My truck accelerates rather well weighing 7000#. I can only imagine what the audi with 3000 or so will do.
