What do you think of the "new" Metallica songs?

Some are pretty good, but a lot suck.

But the style has certainly changed:

The old stuff had more of an edge, and more power to it.

Dude,

Back in the day I was the total Metallica fan. I saw them 7 times in concert. ...And Justice for All was the beginning of the end for me. It was over for real when I saw Kirk Hammet in a video wearing a glitter shirt and eyeliner. The only song I like on the Black album is Sad But True. Anything after that I won't even bother to listen to.

Back in the '80s and '90s, I was a 4-timer to their concerts. You hit the nail on the head.

I loved "...And Justice For All", but everything after that has ranged from mediocre to downright disappointing. The only Metallica disc I've honestly enjoyed after AJFA is "S&M", largely because it showcases the power of their older music when standing up against a symphony orchestra. Stuff like "Battery", "Call of Ktulu" and "Master of Puppets" were absolutely meant to be heard that way. Michael Kamen, the conductor who wrote the symphonic parts, really understood the music.

What got me posting this, is I was listening to one of there newer CD's yesterday and I was like this sucks. The first song was good, but the other 9 were weak.

I used to listen to them quite a bit, but then I got sick of whatsisname's voice, just annoys me now. I still do like The Four Horsemen from the Kill Em All album, that's a sweet song.

That reminds me of the "downfall" of G 'N R. Axl became more and more disconnected from the rest of the band. Then one day they show up for practice and Axl calls in a symphony. They were all like "what the hell", we are a rock band.

I did like the "Behind the Music" about Metallica. I was shocked out of my seat when they brought in Dave Mustane for an interview.
