0-100mph-0 in 14 seconds....on skis!! video added

I just had the most amazing weekend of my life . I tried speed skiing for the first time in my 42 year skiing career, what a blast!! I raced in downhill class, top speed of 148 km/h.I took 7 runs off the top over 4 days of practice/racing, crashed at the bottom on my sixth run (at 140 km/h ).
I was honoured to race in the presence of the fastest men and women on the planet.

I guess the very large brass balls don't show through the ski suit!

Wow!

I can almost wet myself imagining it.

You and me both, Tom.

I have no issues with 140kts...inverted...15’ off the ground.
I consider myself to be a fairly competent skier as well.

But - From looking at the picture of that run, and imaging myself tucked... I feel it safe to conclude that where “brass balls” are concerned. I have one small one...and it’s an 80% tin/alloy mix by comparison to Kyles.

Head me to the Black Diamonds. I believe I’ll pass on this run.

Be careful up there, Kyle.

Kyle, that is truly amazing!

I just picture myself, when skiing in the past, looking down as my tips accidentially cross on rough terrain leading to an inescapable loss of control and ending in a spinning, thrashing mess and me lying there with snow packed in every possible facial oriface.

I can't imagine that happening at over 100MPH...

That's awesome....thanks for sharing. It's hard to describe the rush of barreling down the mountain to non-skiers/boarders without coming off as a loon.

I would have given it a go.....that is, until I saw that video that Zeus posted last week.

145KPH is like 70 something mph.

Still would be bad though!

The conversion ratio is about .62 miles per kilometer. I remember it by using the 10,000 meter race which is a tad bit longer than 6 miles. 10 Km times .6 equals 6 miles.

And, BTW Kyle, yer a better man than oy am, Gunga Din.

You guys have to check out the link at the bottom of my first post, they have a you tube video up now. Glen (the guy who groomed it with the snowcat) skied down at the end of Saturday's racing with a video camera, I think he got up to 135km/h. Make sure you listen to the sound too, it's the closest you can come to the real thing!!
BTW I'm not crazy, just having a mid-life now or never crisis

OK, I just googled and found that olympic skiers can reach very nearly 100 mph.

And a skydiver can reach 125 mph with a closed chute. More like 100 if they stretch out their arms.

So you all are right on.

I would wet my suit at 70 for sure!
