about 1:20 am last night I was woken up by a earth quake nothing really big just a 3.9 magnitude. It was enough to wake me up followed by a 2 magnitude aftershock. Yah the Epicenter was about 8 miles from my house and it was only 1 mile under which is really shallow. yah just thought someone would want to know.

I remember the first we went out to Cali for vacation and I was sitting on the bed. All of a sudden it seemed like the bed was moving alittle, I thought it was my imagination, then I looked at the TV and it was jiggling back and forth on its stand. I figured this was all caused by the workmen in the hallway. A minute later the same thing happened and I looked out the window and things seemed to be swaying.. At this point I figured it was an earthquake. I called the front desk and asked if we had just experienced an earthquake. The woman at the front desk laughed at me and said, "yes, only 4.5". I got scared and went down to the lobby 'just in case'. The same woman who took my call was still at the front desk and told me she was from Peru and in Peru no one even mentions anything under 5.0

ha thats funny, yah i worry about the puente hills earthquake because its predicted to be a 9 to 10 magnitude. i only live 60 miles from the fault and if that happens i will be in for alot. Over the years people have said that the San Andres will have the big one but they recently discovered a new fault and the big one is even bigger than expected. hopefully when it happens i will be out of state on vacation.

when we had that back in 89, it shook things up pretty around here. I forget what it was 7.8 or something. untold number of after shocks, but we got good at predicting the magnatude after while. after the big one, the little ones were nothing. but I`ll pass on the next one.
they had one over in Winnemucca, Nv. and that is unusual. but I guess those mountins over there came from somewhere. glad I wasn`t around when the Sierra were pushed up.

Funny, I was working on my 87 at around the same time, and I didnt feel a thing. I live in Monrovia. So I get on the net and chat w/ my friend who lives in Hacienda Heights...he says "Did you feel it?" I said "nah, i only feel the big earthquakes!" (which is true).
