Best Wood-Filling Putty?
Our dog chewed on the trim around the doorframe at a friend's house while they were watching him. I offered to replace, caulk, and paint the trim, but I'm thinking there has to be a less invasive way to do it. I know all about wood putties used for filling low spots (eg. scratches and gouges), however on this particular trim there are some outside curves and high spots that will need to be built up, shaped, and sanded smooth. What's the best product for such a job? In particular I want to make sure the stuff sticks really well and never comes off!
Any ideas?

Minwax makes a product that's like Bondo but it's profuse with wood particles so it can be stained or painted. It works awesome! I see them using it on "This Old House" frequently to totally re-build rotten trim pieces that can't be replaced.
This is it: http://www.minwax.com/products/wood_maintenance_and_repair/high_performance_wood_filler.cfm

Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty.
I have used this stuff for years. Dries had as a rock. Easy to sand and paint.
