Freaking Wallyworld Electronics Return Policy

15 days is all they give you. I bought a portable DVD player that has a line running through the screen and now I can't exchange it there. Now I have to go mail it back to Philips. What a pain. They sell the product but they refuse to follow up service.

Imagine that. Return policies often drive my purchasing habits, but I seem to be unique in this area.

Go in without the receipt for exchange, I did that with an XBOX 360.

Thats what I would do.

I hate Walmart and never shop their. If I want low cost products with zero service, Amazon.com is only a few clicks away.

A buddy of mine uses the "Walmart Rental Program" He buys whatever he needs for a party as an example and then cleans it and returns it all afterwards. Last time it was an Ipod radio, 4 lawnchairs and a blender. I don't shop there either, they suck. F'em I say. RT

Gee. I can't think why they are such Nazis on their return policies. Best Buy will not take a computer back without charging you a restocking fee. Why? Because too many people have been buying laptops, use them and return them and now they have to sell it at 10% off. Why do stores have a policy of not giving you a refund without a receipt? Too many bad checks, people use them as a check cashing service, etc, etc. Next time you get pissed off at a retailer's policy, look to yourself and your friends for the reason.

I'm not talking about just Wal*Mart. Think other retailers are morons? Think they haven't tightened their return policies because of the abuse they see that Wal*Mart gets? Used to be Best Buy would take back stuff without a receipt. Now they are demanding a receipt or they will give you store credit only. Think Target or Sears, etc, etc, won't learn from Wal*Mart and make it harder to do returns?

If I purchase something its because I want it. I am well aware of the return policy before I leave the store. If someone is so stupid as to make a purchase that the may intend on returning and then don't know the policies of the store then they get what they deserve. If you don't have a receipt then you aren't particularly bright or responsible either. RT

Am I missing something here? Or is someone saying that they support ripping off a business, and they get pissed when said business takes steps to prevent it?

If that’s the case – Someone just made “A--hole of the Day”, and there’s a good chance “A--hole” doesn’t really cover it.
