Housing around my Key broke....
I guess 20 years on the original key was bound to break some day.
The metal is fine and I can just about still use the key!! How much would the dealer charge to have it remade? (this is just standard key, no keyless entry) Other options?

usually replacement keys are around $25.00 from mercedes

You can buy something called a "Key Blank Head" right here from the "Buy Parts" link above. For my 300SD (and probably all MB of the same vintage) it is WorldPac Part Number 03079-70067 for $5.45.
I used one and found it to be a reasonable copy of what you get with a MB key. The metal key just inserts into it and then you insert a plug to close the passageway where you just inserted they key. Inflation seems to have bumped the price up higher than I remember paying, but its still better than the price for a whole new key. Ken300D
