Every time I visit Philly the first thing we do is get a cheesesteak.

Mamas is a pretty good cheeststeak, but.....
They are so popular that you honestly need to reserve one in the morning, because, they only make so many rolls a day.
Allot of people refer to Mamas cheeststeaks as a "stomach grenade" some times they will pull the pin, and sometimes not. If they pull the pin, you will not be eating for at least 12 hours. Mamas is also the BIGGEST cheeststeak anywhere.
It is probably at least 2 pounds. (and really greasy!)

If you throw the names "GENOS" or "PATS" around, people will have to agree, that they are a really good cheesestaek.

Most neighborhoods have their "place" to get a good steak. In Roxborough, it is hands down Daelasandros. (aka Dellys)

I agree, Dalesandro's is great and pretty close to Mama's too, so if you can't get a Mama's steak or they are closed (they have limited hours), Dalesandro's is just around the corner.

Pat's and Geno's ARE good steaks, but there are SO much better for less money elsewhere in the city and surrounding areas.

That's mostly because they're located across the street from each other, and have developed a rivalry over the years.

Most places in and around Philly have great cheesesteaks. That's because most locals would laugh and jeer at anything less.
