Nice 1980 300TD on eBay

I wonder what this will sell for? It looks pretty nice. Third row seat with headrests all in black with the cargo net. No sunroof and euro.

It will be real interesting to see how insane the bidding gets. Looks nice to me!

I found this ironic. While I far prefer the look of the Euro bumpers to the federal ones,

First:

First, it does not have the ugly, oversized bumpers! Equally effective, but with a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Then:

Here’s a more mentionable point, if this is a concern to you – the previous owner got into a fender-bender, and the rear left corner is banged up (as seen in the pic – a little body damage, and deformed bumper at the corner).
So maybe they're not equally as effective?

Sounds like a road trip to me. We can stop in at BeanStock and visit Advisor Guy's 18 bay garage on the way back

I like my bumpers for safety but I think they would have yielded more damage from a hit in the same location. I think the bumper bracket on the US version bumpers would have transferred more damage to the lower quarter into the wheel well. The damage on the ebay wagon looks like a fairly easy repair.

I would do a road trip from Texas for a mint 300D or 300CD once I sell our Acura. My wife is "just" about ready to go with a classic MB, but one wagon is enough. She's even pointing out w123s on TV and the road and commenting on their good looks. Her only criteria is that everything must work and she wants to know how to do oil changes and filter changes. I think the MB addiction is contagious.

No kidding? My wife's not quite there yet. My 8 year old daughter has been pointing out old benzes - it makes me smile every time.

Sounds like you, me and Swamp need to find 3 mint coupes down there and drive them back to our rusty homeland.

I'm not kidding Actually there are a few stipulations ... my wagon has to be on the road again so she can use it between the sale of the Acura and the purchase of her mint beauty. She also doesn't want a blue or black interior or a black, white or yellow exterior ... and there is no negotiating these points.

The MB thing is contagious, so far the diesel bug hasn't bit her yet although she could probably deal with an '87 TD with a little priming. She does fancy an old SL to escape in, which I'm willing to oblige when the finances allow as long as it's a 450/560. I'm sure she'd hop right into a BlueTech anything, not that one would even remotely fit within the budget, however given the size of the herd/pack/gaggle we're pretty much always stuck needing a minivan of some sort for her primary vehicle.

That's not to say that dad can't have a few cars **cough** CD **cough** to play around with.

We'll end up getting a sedan so we can handle the kids in either car if one is down for repairs/maintenance. It's nice to dream though.

Hey, don't go trying to interject reality into my day dreaming.

Is it a Turbo or N/A? 1980 or 1985?

Posting says 1985 and 1980 in different places. Instrument cluster looks to be from an N/A vehicle...or were euro models spec'd differently in this regard? I didn't think turbo was avail in 1980.

I believe it's a 1980 which is N/A, but the original motor was replaced with a 1985 turbo motor.
