name that 50s or 60s movie in which...

... a dying wife looks for a new wife for her husband. Then learns she isn't dying and has to break up her husband the the wife-to-be. Or something like that.

My wife can't remember the title.

Not sure what she has in mind :)

Thanks,

Try "Send Me No Flowers" circa 1964 with Rock Hudson and Doris Day. The only issue is that it's the husband who thinks that he's dying, not the other way around.

I saw an older B&W similar to that. Except the wife does die. Husband is an architect. The wife pushes his "girl Friday" into the relationship.
Sorry, can't remember any actors or names.

We have Send Me No Flowers so that isn't it.

Girl Friday sounds right. Let me pass that to her.

Thanks,

I checked . . .

I didn't think "Girl Friday" was right. IMDb has it as "His Girl Friday," the fast-paced Howard Hawks comedy with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, based on "The Front Page." No self-sacrificing spouses there, and it's the 40s anyway.

Sixto, from your description I suppose it's a comedy? But the scenario MS Fowler gives is more of a drama.

I thnk the movie to which I was referring was the already mentioned " Send Me No Flowers"

We have His Girl Friday and that isn't it either. I can't find a movie titled just Girl Friday.

I wonder what movie it is then...

James Garner and Doris Day ? Wait, no. Doris Day was missing and presumed dead and he was about to remarry when she reappears I think.

If you know who starred in it or who directed it then IMDB.com is an excellent resource to narrow down your search.
