In looking for something today I found a carb rebuild kit
Its new in the sealed plastic bag. Its for a 2 barrel carb but there is no labels so I have no idea what its for.
Its kindof like finding money in your pocket for an unknown country. Tom W

2bbl huh ?
I know our old (1975) Dodge van had a 318 with a 2 barrel. I can't think of any motorcycle with a 2 barrel. I think that some VW's in the 70's came stock with a 2 barrel. How big are the throats ? That might narrow things down well if you really want to find out what it goes to. Tom, list out all your old cars (you remember all of them and their carburetion...right =) Don't forget all the parents/bros/sisters/friends that you might have ever bought parts for =) =) =) Wife and I pack rat a lot. Not as much as either of our parents, but more than some of our friends. Its a vicious family cycle that I am trying to break. Its just that I loved my 240D before I sold it and the steering wheel might STILL be of use to me... =) =) =) I'm sure that someday I too will start finding car parts that I forgot I had. -John

Thanks.
A carb is a carburator. Yeah, I tried thinking of cars I owned with 2 barrels and couldn't come up with very many. My 52 pontiac maybe, and my 51 caddy. I am sceptical that this is for either one though. Tom W

Can you post a picture?
Ford used one 2 bbl carb for about 20 years of production- from about 1958 ( after the "tea-pot" carb) well into the 1970, maybe even the 1980s. 2 bbl carbs were used on V8 production engines from 221 cubic inch to 390 cid, probably the most-produced carb in history. ( except for the Model T--they made 15 million model Ts--but used several carb designs)

The two barrel was the standard on most cars with small V8's in the '70s and '80s. Chrysler used a ton of them. Carter made many excellent carburetors during that period. The "BBD" seems to ring a bell. Holley also produced copies of Carter's two barrels so that Chrysler could have a competitor. The Holley never worked as well as the Carter.........it was an excellent carb.

The Zenith's Mercedes used in the 60's and early 70's were all 2 barrel. Own any of those?

The air-cooled VW's used a Solex single barrel carb. Aftermarket VW offerings came in 2-bbl Weber, Zenith or Dellorto.
I'm thinking perhaps British, German Opel or early Japanese (280Z) engines used the 2-bbl...sidedraft Strombergs perhaps?

What old Ferrari do you have?
I remember you saying you had an old 250 or something.... Those are 2 barrels.

Its a '59 gt 250 pf coupe.
AFIK rebuild kits for it are still unobtainable. I made new gaskets for it by tracing the old ones on the drawing board and cutting the new gasket out with an exacto knife. This kit is either a solex or some type of 'merican car I think. Tom W
