iPod docking station advice

I need some advice on which iPod docking station to buy. I've narrowed my choices down to the either the Apple one, or the Belkins. I know with the Apple one, it has a neat little remote. Anyone know of a better one?

My wife got it for me for christmas. The sound is muddy and and no adjustments. I took too long to open it or I would have returned it.

The main problem with those that I have found is when you have a protective case on the I Pod, it won't fit into the dock.

I have the Belkins cigarette lighter adapter/amp for my iPod. Not very good workmanship, with cracking plastic and poorly-moored wiring causing the occasional volume drop. If their docking system is of the same quality, I would pass on it.

I think I will go with the Apple docking station, I will be hooking it up to my Tivoli Model One, so I am not expecting it to sound perfect. I do like the Apples remote...

I just want something to Dock and Sync with, I will play it through my Tivoli Table radio, and maybe some Bose computer speakers I am planning on buying someday down the road.
If I could find a new vintage stereo receiver or amp, I will hook it up to that, and play through my big Rectilinear III speakers.

rca to ipod cable

For playback in the house I did find a set of cables with an ipod connecter on one side and a pair of RCA's on the other. I use an aux input in the stereo amp. I think they were around $15 for the cable.

I think I might actually get an Accurian AMA-2336, it does everything I want, and is $30 less than the Apple, and does even more than the Apple dock. The only draw back, is that if I ever get a newer iPod, it won't work correctly, but I figure by that times, there will be all new standards anyways...

I just bought the Accurian AMA-2336, and returned it. It was a piece of junk, I will just put off getting something for a little while. I still think I will buy an Apple docking station, just not at this time...
