Unhappy It's definitely a Monday...

Since Hump Day and Friday have their own threads, why not a Monday one to lament on.

We got a full trailer load of cases (2x2.5 gal.) and 55/30 gal. drums of various liquid golf course fertilizers in this morning. It was ordered in late January for delivery the week of February 25th. Well, that was close. Our own deliveries have been stacking up, awaiting these drums and cases so that the delivery runs are worth it. With the price of diesel these days we make damn sure our trucks are loaded with anything and everything within the geographic area.

So the truck arrives this morning, no appointment in spite of the fact that the bill of lading clearly states 24 hour notice or delivery may be refused. Needless to say the spot in the warehouse isn't emptied out yet (this time of year is pretty hectic in all the departments so a lot of stuff gets done Just In Time, like after we get the phone call for a delivery appt., due to space constraints). Well, we've been waiting for this stuff for a month so I can't refuse it now. Who knows how long until we'd get it back.

The guy opens the doors, backs up to the dock and EVERY pallet's contents have slid off the pallets. There is at least one case now sitting below the top of the pallet preventing it from getting slid back underneath, although most of them had the majority on the floor, or they are leaning severly against the pallet next to it. The drums were easy to get straightened out, just cut the bands and roll them back onto the pallets. But the remaining 16 pallets of 36 cases each had to be cut open (the stretch wrap holding them together) and each pallet restacked before they could be pulled off.

It wasn't the end of the world, we could have done it in under an hour. But I let the guys stretch it out to a 3 hour ordeal just to inconvenience the driver who was anxious to get his next pick up. It was far more exercise than I was hoping for first thing in the morning. The driver was *****ing about how poorly they were wrapped and I told him that we get 5-6 loads a season from them and it's never been a problem before. I really wasn't in the mood and hadn't even had a coffee in my system yet.

It's no doubt it's a Monday. Thank Dog for green beer today.

Hope your week picks up from there, Swamp.

I'm still on a high from my weekend. It's the best one I've had in a while.

I'm counting down the minutes! My brother and father went off to lunch at the Irish Club at 12:30 and aren't back yet. Bastards. Sometimes it's tough being the responsible one. 5 minutes before I was leaving for my lunch hour my father says to head over to the club with my bro and he'll go over after I get back. Nothing like a little notice so that the Mrs. can make the necessary changes to her schedule.

T-minus 2 hours to green beer and Guiness.

Forgot it was St. Patty's Day!

Man Swamp, your week started off with a BANG! Hope it gets better!!

Pulled up the soccer website and saw that my daughter's team squeaked into 1st place in the division standings after this weekend's round of games. A small but satisfying "yippee" emanates from my cubicle!

Wife VETO'ed that deal a couple of weeks ago, just as I was about to take delivery!

Now that I think about it, she did that on a Monday!
