An appeal to parts suppliers who read this forum

I see a lot of folks here with mixed or negative feedback on **************.

For me they have one redeeming feature - they ship to Canada and other overseas destinations. US mail parcel service - it's slow but it arrives sooner or later.

The list of US based suppliers who are willing to serve foreign customers is fast declining. Fastlane won't, and now DieselGiant has blacklisted us as well :(

This means we foreigners are forced to work with suppliers who don't support the community - **************, Adsitco, Performance Products and the like.

it's a problem when you need a part that the dealer wants an arm or a leg for, specialized tools or stuff that is not routine. You guys south of the border are really lucky to have such an excellent parts community in the US!

I've purchased items from Mercedesource, ******** Ariz. and from Performance products and haven't had any issues. I've also purchased from Fastlane. I would purchase more from Fastlane if their prices weren't so high compared to the others.
I'm not meaning to be negative towards our fine forum sponsor, but the prices speak for themselves.
I don't think it is possible to beat the customer service of Fastlane. You just have to decide how much that great service is worth.

So, it's hard to get parts up there and it is too darn cold!!! Good luck with all that......

Probably a result of them having to deal with all those extra vowels, eh?

300sdToronto 03-19-2008 05:22 PM

maybe they just don't want to let their parts catch a cold up here?

Shipping from the US to Canada is a pain. In my business, I have to go to the Chamber of Commerce, and have a form signed and notorized. Expensive regarding wasted time. For USPS, better, but still forms have to be filled out.

For a business, this is money. Sending it to the US is simply packing it and slapping a label on, to Canada there is an extra step and forms involved, takes more than twice as long to label and ship (not including the trip downtown to the Chamber).

I'm not saying the businesses that don't ship are right, but felt that explaining why is important. Not your (Canadians') fault, but this is why you're getting resistance from some sellers to ship to Canada. I need to ship some parts, will take the 30minute round-trip plus waiting in line at the post office tomorrow.

And I sure did learn my lesson on shipping UPS to Canada, they rake the buyers over the coals on taxes.

I've bought lots of parts online with NO problems from ********, ebay, ********az. However, i've NEVER had more problems with the so called parts supplier alloemcarparts. They are the worst, most difficult to get a straight answer as all their reps couldn't give me a strait answer in regards to my rad! Oh we don't have one, or it's processing etc. so needless to say i've cancelled my order! If they were the last parts seller in the world, i'd sell my benz before buying a SCREW from them!

Ok, i've vented now, dont do bus. with them if you want your sanity!

Ciao !

How close are you to the border of the US?
I know a few people who live within 50 miles of the border who have
a PO box in the states. They have pain in the arse things shipped to the
PO box and then they pick them up every two weeks.
If you're close enough, this may be an option for you.

Phil, I'm not trying to shill a competitor here. These guys wont ship to the US, and you (unfortunately for me) wont ship to Canada. I'd love to support the board with my purchases if I only could.
