AT&T 'bemoans lack of US skills
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7316775.stm
AT&T has said it is struggling to find enough skilled staff to fill the 5,000 customer service jobs it is returning to the US from India, a report claims. |
Doctorate in Physics required to work for ATT?
Yeah,
Excuse Me, BUT YOU know Mr.Stephenson is just setting the stage for the IMPORTATION of foreign workers(skilled or not). OR Read between his lines, what he's really saying is... The potential employees in India will not work for the same enslavement type wages we can get the illegal Guatemalans we'll trans-ship through Old Mexico to work for. |
Where are they looking?

CAs/CSAs/CSRs/CSSs/TCSs/Roller-skating Waitresses/Whatevers...
First...the pay...it sucks and there's really no bennies...they don't have you working a full 80...just up to the minimum (63/2 weeks)...then you're scheduled off 'til the begining of the next work period. You're really a Part-timer... :( Second...Hours you work...haphazard...1st shift/2nd shift/3rd shift/weekends/holidays... :( Third...No guarantee that after the "probationary period" you even are an ATT employee...you ended up being a "contract" worker..."Give us your blood and don't let the door smack you on the @55 on the way out...you're not covered by Workers' Comp. anymore." :( If you have a 40hr./week job w/bennies, count yourself damn lucky...but don't count too long...be ready to "contract" your services out to the very company you're working for now. Or to the competition across, or down, the street... First rule they're teaching in Business School..."Find a way to keep costs down and you'll rule the company...it's not what you've done for the company, it's what you've done for the company in the past month." If the company, you're "applying" to or is "hiring" you, does not hand you an "Employee Manual" during your orientation, you're not really an employee...not for very long anyways. And today, if you haven't noticed that being a loyal employee doesn't guarantee you longevity in that place...it's either because you're a screw-up to begin with, or the company has issues with paying the help... My money's on the latter...but we've all experienced a bit of the former... But hey! Just getting your foot in the door will establish your reputation as a good worker... Yep! That and $4.00 for a cup of "Joe" will get you...whatever... |
