Eurika spring today

WE went over to ES today.

My SIL told us that it has been taken over by Homosexuals and cross dressers. We said we didn't care and headed on over.

The streets are fairly numerous but there is one main one that kindof switches back and forth with numerous side streets shooting up and down. The hotel that i like best is called the Basin, IIRC.

As we came into the outskirts of town my SIL saw a sign for a motel and said "Look! See? it says QUEEN beds!" (It was a joke about the homosexuals.) ....then she said "I am sure we will see more too!"

I did a lot of walking and climbing in 45 degree temps with brisk breezes and no sunlight so I am about ready to crash.

I had a long talk with a Lady running a bookstore about Architecture after I bought a FLW book, "The Fellowship". Her dad was an Architect too. They were originally from the Chicago area and she had visited numerous FLW buildings with her dad over the years.

I spotted about an 83 300dt in Ivory...could have been a twin to mine.

A great time. I only saw a few (what I would call) Homosexual couples (not that there is anything wrong with that) and no cross dressers (That I could spot) at all.

I did spot one middle aged couple wearing some prettty outrageous clothes...He had a buckskin coat with fringe about 15" long and she had a full length fur coat of some grayish long hair....driving a late model silver SLK.

An absolutely georgeous drive through the Ozarks on roads with precious few straightaways.

I had to chuckle as we came up behind a local pickup truck hounding a red Miata through curve after curve. I said that the Miata was obviously not a local car. I saw it later in town....it was from Mississippi.

Great little town.

Will sleep in my own bed tomorrow night......ahhhhhhhh!

Tom, have you seen the FLW "Tree" not too far west of there in Okla? Quite a nice bit of architecture, even if it is a bit impractical inside.

The Price(?) tower?

No I have not seen it if that is what you refer to. It looks pretty cool though and I would love to visit it.

Northwest Arkansas, only about an hour from the Missouri/Arkansas state line. Nice place; hilly old style streets lined with interesting shops, a historic house neighbrohood, each house with a plaque bearing it's name and year built, an old (120 year old) Crescent Hotel that was featured on a show I once watched about haunted places My wife and I were there one weekend and they were having a vintage Mercedes Benz show in the parking lot of The Crescent. When the weather is good the streets will be lined with convertibles and motorcycles. There are plenty of places to get a great meal or a very good cup of coffee.

I go to ES two or three times a year; very nice drive in my Red Miata from Springfield; unlike the Miata driver from Mississippi I have a blast on those twisties. The only ticket I got in 10 year was in Arkansas; its just plainly hard to drive slow on those roads in a sportscar. (I deserved the ticket)
ES is very nice arts, food & music community, old homes & businesses set on a very steep sided valley; this where old hippies go to die before they collect your money. Lots of Bed & breakfasts. We call it Santa Barbara of the Ozarks.
You would never know you were in the 'Hillbilly Ozarks', except for the few tourist traps along the way. Take a car that handles well and you have a blast.
People are very friendly & kind.
Take money and eat at some of the best arty gourmet or funky restaurants this side of California.
