Thumbs up Costly Classic: NYC Restaurant Offers $81 Burger

http://wcbstv.com/food/81.dollar.burger.2.689522.html

The west side restaurant Tuesday turned the favorite American classic into a Japanese luxury when it unveiled its 18-ounce $81 burger, made from the highest grade of Japanese Kobe Wagyu.

Each burger is made with 14 ounces of the high-end Japanese beef and 4 ounces of barely-seared sirloin Wagyu medallion tucked inside. It comes with Executive Chef Oscar Martinez's own sake onion ketchup, miso and ginger aioli, and a side of tater tots.

Had this years back for $60 and its worth every single cent that they charge.

I cant remember what it was called, but I had some sort of Lebanese meat balls once at a wedding, it was just raw ground beef with some herbs thrown in. Everyone at the table said their own mother made the best... i was lol'ing. There was cow brains too, very squishy texture.

Dunno but good solid protein always affects my balls than my brains.

Eh, summer's here, so I probably won't be around too much unless like today it is threatening rain.

Does anyone not see the dishonesty in all of this?

It's a "Japanese Kobe Wagyu" burger. First of all, if it's Kobe beef, no need to mention Japanese, and no need to mention Wagyu, unless you're talking American Wagyu, then you're just outright misleading people. This guy is a disgrace to the profession.

If you look at the picture all the ground meat is at least medium well. Nobody worth their salt would take such expensive meat and cook all the moisture out of it.

IIRC, the mention of Wagyu means it is American raised, or at least not raised in Kobe.
