Power Washer, Did I do OK

Bought a power washer at Menards on close out.

Mculloch 1600 PSI.. 80 bucks

Just a small portable unit, not like me and my Tim Allen usual urg urg BIGGER mode.

But basically just need it to do the outside of the house, the vinyl siding and gutters. Gutters are the real issue, the siding will come clean easy.
Figure when we do the house, this thing is small, so we can only do one section a day or so.

I don't have the place to store a big unit and probably don't need a bigger unit for 90% of the tasks.
Only real negative I see is limited attachments for these smaller units.

Nah electric, same issue. having to store another gas device that I use infrequently. Already have chain saw, generator, tractor, weed wacker (although I got a battery one now too).

I bought an electric last year (1200psi I think) for $99. So, in my opinion, you got a good deal.

PSI doesn't mean doo doo unless you have adequate GPM behind it.

You did fine...they'll work great for those little around-the-home projects. Just remember to test the spray pattern on a small, inconspicuous part of the project...even though it says it's only 1,600 p.s.i., that kind of pressure can still rip/shread just as easily as some of the bigger units...particularly the vinyl siding you're talking about...as for the gutters, get yourself one of those "gutter wands" instead...you don't want to be forcing a spray near your roof line...

I use the one I got on all the air-conditioning units and the heat-exchanger units I have at the transmitter sites...I got mine from MENARDS too...a "Blackcat" brand...I think the p.s.i. was the same...and again, I had a small "learning curve" that I needed to experience before I went after the fins on those AC/HE units...I didn't want to "fold over" the fins...sort of wrecks the cooling efficiency when the air can't flow through the units.

Also, remember to have at least some "head-pressure" with the water source...if I'm not mistaken, there's a pressure switch that senses the lack of pressure from the water source and it will not turn on. At my transmitter site, I have to bring water in, and I run the water to the washer with a small, 1/2 h.p. pump connected between the sprayer and tanks. That should be more than enough pressure to keep the switch engaged...don't rely on gravity, alone, to keep the pressure proper.

Good luck with your purchase...and remember, you got what you paid for...no more and hopefully, no less...

Thanks,
Not planning or thinking it's a major unit. Just couldn't justify 2 or 3 times for all the features I wanted. Yet didn't necessarily need.

And then again the storage issue, this thing is small and compact.

And with our local community well system, I'll probably have to take breaks to let my 2 pressure tanks recharge.
Pressure has improved drastically, but still only what most people call acceptable. Thats why I overdid it by installing 2 large pressure tanks.
If they get through the rebuild they keep promising, it should improve. But they were to be completed by the first of the year. Haven't even finalized plans last I heard, Goverment.
