how to see what things on ebay selling for
Can someone tell me if there is a way to see what similar items have been selling for on ebay?

There's a button you click on the left side toolbar under search options. click on competed listings.
Then you set how many days back you want to go. Kind of cool to see what sells and what doesn't, car wise. I dunno how to do it on the motors style ebay, though. As Tyler stated, use the "completed auctions" located on the left of the search page or right above the listings depending if your in ebay motors or ebay. You will need to sign in to use it. Another tip is to go to completed than change the "sort" to Highest price first which is located above the listing to the right. I than sort down to the find similar items that I might have to sell.

"Advanced Search" should also bring up the completed items option.

The standard "completed items" information doesn't go back all that far - 15 days, if I recall correctly. That may not help much if you're looking for something that turns up for sale infrequently.
They do offer, for a price, access to historical data going back 60 days or 90 days, depending on which "Marketplace Research" subscription one buys. I've never used it. If you want to keep your eyes peeled for a certain item - either to buy it or to see what sort of price it fetches - then you might want to set up appropriate searches on eBay that will notify you by e-mail when something turns up that matches your search criteria. I currently have dozens of such searches in effect. Some turn up hits almost daily; some are for things so obscure that they've never returned a hit. As an example, one of those automatic e-mails from eBay is the only reason that I would happen to know about |
Thanks guys. I will try some of this out tomorrow when I am fresh.
