possible paypal flimflam
I got an email saying diamond paypal or similar. I opened it and it said I had ordered $421 worth of bridal set and had a shipping address of california somewhere with a strange woman's name.
So it said if i wanted to dispute it to click on a place highlighted in blue, so I clicked that and it asked for my master card number and soc sec number. I said "Whoooaahhhhhh there". So I exited then went to paypal and signed in and did not find the transaction listed there. I went back to my email and erased it. Is that good enough or should I erase it from my dead email file too? Tom W |
should be fine deleating it, nice catch. Paypal wants you to forward all scam emails to them, I guess they're growing teeth on that issue (or pretending to...)

I never open any link in any email from paypal or ebay. When I get something with a link, I delete, the go to paypal or ebay to see if it was real.

I just tried to change my password on paypal and it asked me to give all my credit card info to prove I am the owner of the account.
I did log in on the email link. so I didn't give any of the credit card or bank account info. What now? Tom W |
First off, if you've ordered from E-Bay or any other site, you should be aware of where you're at in terms of what auction is still open, whether you won or not and related actions...
Secondly, if you've completed, dropped out, or whatever...you should have enough memory to know how the transaction ended...do you owe or are you clean? Third...if you've worked these things legitimately, why should "they" need more info/money/whatever from you...AFTER THE FACT? I'd deep-six the 'e's right off the bat, or turn them over to the appropriate site that handles "phishing" or fraud. As for me? I get TONS of crap like that every day..."Your bank account will be..." - "You have a transaction pending that needs attention..." All of it is BS, all the time... Solution? <Delete> <Delete> <Delete> <ad nauseum> Until they apply the Death Penalty for attempted fraud, we're going to have to live with this crap. The only thing we can do is avoid the trap and its attached minutia... Live free and proper, die corrupted. Someone is going to pick your pockets at the funeral home, or at the visitation... Death, taxes and spam...those are for certain... :tt2: |
Tom, I believe you can sign into paypal and remove the credit card info. At least this will help for right now.

Can't I just change the password?

When it is suspect, I usually use the userid of "F**K" and password is "YOU" and somehow, I get thru to the site. It must be magic

Nothing showed on the paypal history that we did not do.
