Is there a washer/dryer combo out there...

That will wash and dry a load in an 45 minutes, ie., 20 minute wash 25 minute dry or something like that?

Would a unit like that be reliable?

I don't buy combo VCR/DVD/TV or iMacs for the same reason.

Actually, I'm not positive that there is. I missed the "combo" part before. One thing that most people don't realize is that when these dryers are enclosed in a small space without sufficient make up air, drying takes a lot longer. If your dryer seems to be taking too long with your utility room door closed, open the door, and see if it doesn't shorten drying time considerably.

LG's had them for years and they are available in the US. I saw one at Best Buy a few years ago.

Those fancy LG and other units break all the time. They were the most-often-returned-from-failure washers/dryers at Lowes when I worked there for a year back in the assembly area (which was right by returns)....so I saw a fair share of them. Those, and the lowest end models, were most often returned. Very few of the mid to upper range "normal" units...those all seemed to be fine.

Yeah, that's what I heard too. I went with the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer.

I heard that they dry kinda slow too (due to the nature of a washing machine drum)

Check these Splendide combomatic I have one on the boat and I love it. No issues that were the fault of the unit in three years. Put clothes in and out comes clean dry clothes. No vent for lint build up either- which can cause a fire.
