New M5/M6 vs E55/E63

Hello all. Debating on weather to post this or not but I just want to hear what OD has to say. I don't want it to turn into the debates like C32/M3 etc but it is kind of related....

I like to see some of the races (street and non-street) on Youtube and the races are so mixed it makes me wonder. Like this, M5 vs E55: The M5 wins handily, M5 vs E63: E63 edges out the M5, E63 vs E55: E55 takes the E63. Now M6 vs E55: It destroys the E55 and so on. Now some are Kleeman cars and they still get beat. Most of these races are on BMW sites (I know, I Know) and some other race sites.

Now my take on this has to do with our traction control. When I gun the C32 and some fun, if the ESP cuts in (even when it is off) the car slows down so bad, anything can beat me because the car bogs down so bad. Racing something like an M3, I would get beat quite bad. If I get traction and there is no interference, I realize 100% why I purchased the car. It is very fast and more than worthy competition for an M3 (of the same year).

I love all the cars mentioned. I do know 100% that the Mercedes AMG and BMW M cars are made for different purposes . Plain and simple. But in straight line drag races, I find it odd that the big gun AMG's seem to get beat so bad (sometimes). I just want your thoughts because I do love the AMG cars and after the C32, I am contemplating an E55 or E63 (no C class for me now due to my larger frame). I don't want it to turn into a Merc vs BMW , what is better debate. Both are great cars period. Are the new M5 / M6 cars just faster? So what is your take on this?

Shaun

You need to turn on dyno mode my friend....

No traction control. All power- all the time.

Do you really, honestly care which one wins a drag race? These cars are all ridiculously fast, and you will probably never be able to use what they have (grip/power/handling) on the street. I'd say drive both and see which one you like better. None of this bench racing stuff, who cares if one car is faster to 60 mph by a couple tenths.

Depends who is driving the car. A lot of the new cars have auto's or fake auto's so skill is less important. But with a stick you have to know how to shift. I have seen cars that should have won a drag race lose because of the driver. My friend crushed a late model M3 with his warmed up Chevy truck. Idiot didn't know how to shift. My cousin did the same in his 330CI with a Subaru STI that had a few mods in it, kid missed a shift.

I would imagin the best way to race an AMG would be to either do a rolling start at say 50, and pull to 100-120. They have a ton of torque and really high gearing so thats where they would shine. Also that why their is zero skill involved just floor it and go, thats all car.

If you want to do a race that requires some driver skill I would put the car into dyno mode, and throw some real tires on the rear, IE slicks. Than heat them up and figure out the best way to launch the damn thing. That takes some practice.

You also can't forget weather, that can play a huge part.
