RWD 550bhp Acura
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/232305/
That’s the word from Autocar’s sources inside Honda Japan, who have confirmed that the front-engined V10 supercar will be unveiled at next year’s Tokyo show and will be followed by a new range of rear-wheel-drive Acura sports saloons.

It'll be out just in time for $7.00 a gallon gas. Woohoo!

Well the NSX was a fantastic car in every regard, so this better be one heck of a machine to match it.

“It now has Chevrolet Corvette overtones,” said our source. But the new NSX will still be powered by a 4.5-litre V10 engine, delivering around 550bhp and offering racecar-like acoustics.
Stock for stock, maybe. How will the aftermarket treat it? I do know it will be way easier to bring a stock Vette to much higher power levels than the new NSX. http://www.lingenfelter.com/Lingenfelter2006ZO6TTBGB.htm

I'm an Acura fan, but I don't like the looks of this one.
I thought it looked like a cross between a corvette and a CTS.

You can only go so far with a turbo or whatever till you are reminded that there is no replacement for displacement. I don't think there will be as much demand as the Vette will have.

Or until you step on the gas for longer than 2 seconds and you're already going above the speed limit and everyone around you is slowing you down. That just doesnt sound that fun to me. If I had one of these I'd also have a lower powered car with good handling that I could actually wring out on the street if I wanted. A Miata or sometthing similarly light weight and RWD

Since we're on the topic of Japanese supercars, I'm eagerly awaiting the Nissan GT-R.
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/04/first-drive-2009-nissan-gt-r/ Keeps up with a Z06 and then some. AWD, trackable. $72k... (unless stealers mark it up)

Didn't you see that Brabus tuned SL on Top Gear? It had an obscene amount of power and torque and because of that, sucked on the track. This is supposed to be a supercar you can take to the track like the old NSX

That would be nice. There's a lot of rumors and hysteria about this car... Some facts" 507HP at least! Here's a dyno test. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_0803_2009_nissan_gt_r_dyno_test Faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo on the track! http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/nissan/0711_2008_nissan_gt_r/index.html I read that the thing is neck and neck with the 911 Turbo in the 1/4 mile. .

The 3L V6 in previous NSX was tuned to insane levels of BHP by Japanese tuners like Mugen, HKS etc and many more. so I am sure this 4.5L has the potential. In previous reports Honda had stated that they would like this vehicle to be a frugal one as well and maybe thats why the engine displacement is small to start with but even then it doesn't negate its potential in any sense. Also NSX has always handled better than its contemporaries so I am expecting this one to be a benchmark as well.

Are high output, low displacement motors frugal? I doubt it. Corvettes (well the newers ones) are famous for being able to get decent gas mileage because they have such big engines and low end torque, you can have a very tall overdrive so the engine is bareoly above idle at 65 mph
I doubt the Honda will be able to do the same.
