From Castro's Jail to The Kentucky Derby

I thought this was a good story.

Thanks for posting that Mistress ... I used to follow horse racing very closely but have lost interest to some degree due to the major degradation of the sport. I still keep an eye out because the horses are still amazing to watch, and there are still some unbelievable people associated with them ... like these guys. I loved this quote:

“I think God gives you the strength to go through the difficult times,” he told this reporter, shortly before he departed for Kentucky on Tuesday. “And then you think of the beauty of this country that opened their arms to welcome us and … told us, ‘It’s in your hands. How much can you do? How far can you go?’”

I wish I could send that to every American who ^$&*%es because they can't have a two-car garage, a flatscreen TV, endless fuel and a free house. People forget what the "American Dream" really is ... an opportunity, not a promise.

The American dream seems to fade after a couple generations. It seems to happen when the suceeding generations become mono-lingual, lose their sense of being more than just "a citizen" and get smothered by the media driven cultural tidal wave in this country.

It is nice to get a glimpse of our country throught the eyes of newcomers every now and again.
