In the de la Beckwith case particularly, they just threw out the right to a speedy trial to bring him to justice. Minor technicality.

I wouldn't have a clue because I didn't follow the trial, don't know all the charges, ect....

I guess it was the death penalty . . . .

They can really pile on the sentences if they wish. That's why nobody takes it to a verdict. They would have probably settled for 3-5 years before going to trial. No sane individual would risk the alternative.

I've got some experience with this exact scenario with a member of my family.

It's not pretty when the Government has all the cards and all the money. Not a damn thing you can do about it.

I wuz skeert til she passed. Now I'm kewl.

Why would she commit suicide? She could have sold the list to the networks, wrote a book about her business and live the high life.

In Washington, it doesn't pay to piss people off unless you have a plan. Apparently, she didn't.
