item in question is a 92 ford ranger. 4 cyl, manual tranny. anywho for the past couple of weeks when i go to fill the tank i can only get 3 or 4 gallons in. even with say 150 miles on the odometer. try with patience to top the thing off to no avail. have a factory shop manual and can find nothing relevant. stopped by the dealer. and no help here either. your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

p.s. tried sites tied to 'ranger enthusiasts' with no success.

Oh, I thought you meant because you didn't quality for the home equity loan you needed to be ABLE to fill it all the way up.

The vent is probably clogged, I have no idea where it is on a Ranger though.

Have you tried holding the nozzle back out of the hole and just letting the fuel flow in? Or does it over flow when you do that?

You should crawl under and look around to see what you find. If the bed needs to come off have a couple friends to assist. Its not really that bad.
First spray the nuts on the screws with penetrating oil (they might have to be cut). Remove 6 bolts from bed (Torx 55?), unplug tail light wiring, vehicle grounds, screws to fuel filler hose, over flow hose, wrap bumper ends with rags to prevent scratching.

If you have time clean up the frame and paint while you have the chance.
