Mendocino County votes to ban marijuana cultivation
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Mendocino County's reputation as a marijuana haven of California may be going up in smoke.
Voters on Tuesday leaned toward repealing a law allowing home marijuana growing, according to preliminary results of a ballot measure vote released on Wednesday. I read abot this in the SF Chron, hard to believe the vote went this way. Dope growing is
the basis of the economy up there. Can't rely on tourism alone to support the economy. Kinda like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Sounds like "organized crime" took over, and turned a friendly thing into a commercial business venture with automatic guns and lots of paranoia.
I think I would form a citizens group and "run" all the bad guys out! Protect my interests! Not vote it out!!!!

That is probaly what happened.
Here in Nevada County, which is another county with this issue, the illegal aliens caught working on the marijuana plantations, (which are spotted by the C.A.M.P. helicopters, by the way) when arrested are claiming that they are employted by Mexican drug cartels that have basicfally threatened to kill their families back in Michoacan, aSinaloa, Oaxaca or wherever if they "snitch". You can believe it or not, but who knows - could be true, the Mex cartels mean business, they don't screw around..... But the REAL scourge in these cow counties is crystal meth. We joke about some of the girls up here: "Oh, that one's a flatlander; look at her teeth!!!!  (late edit: C.A.M.P. = Campaign Against Marijuana Planting)

Marijuana cultivation and use is one of the few things that conservatives and liberals overwhelmingly agree on, its one of the issues that still is baffles everybody that ganja is still illegal. I'm not a user but I don't see any harm in a good bud here and there.

The one thing I look forward to in retirement -- putting my chicken poop, soil and future crop together and make a wonderful sunset over the septic tank.
When I retire, my kids will be grown and Mrs B & I wont have *****-all to do so I'm going to resurrect old hobbies & past-times.

Growing herb is everyone's right.
Be it for medical or recreational uses.All this folderol about helicopters and planes taking infrared photos is pure twaddle,never been caught yet. Some of it I admittedly use myself,some I give to others in my wife's cancer support group. F'em all I say. This nation is so backward in so many ways.

I'd love to grow some, but no place to where I live. Yes I have a BIG backyard with a six foot block wall around it, but it is in a residential neighborhood in Arizona. Crap...
 My neighbors would turn me in in a second... JAIL!! What a FREAKING paranoid world this is!
