I need a 12v vacuum pump

They cost about $400 new, so I have been trying to find one in the scrapyard. Problem is they are from mid 80's GM cars and those are few and far between these days. I understand they are also in Volvo's , but older models as well.

Does anyone know of a vacuum pump in a newer model? Maybe there is a Mercedes pump? I need it for a brake booster for an electric car I am building. It has to 12v, not run off the engine. The beauty of the GM one is it is all in one with a pressure switch built in.

I have (somewhere in my storage room) an unused 12v vacuum pump. I payed a few hundred for it a number of years ago, thinking I'd use it on the vacuum-powered wipers on my '50 Chevy.

Does the pump from the MB central locking systems produce enough vacuum?

I would think not.

Audi 5000 from the 80's used a vacuum pump for its cruise control like that shown for the Volvo.

126's use a vacuum pump for the door locks. As mentioned above, I don't know if the volume of the pump is adequate. I suppose it might depend on the size of the brake booster. Could be pretty small in an electric car.
The cruise control on my Bluebird used to use vacuum generated by a device in the compressed air system. Doubt you'll have a compressor in an electric car, but if you do, google vacuum generators.

The car is a 1996 Saturn SL1 that I am converting to electric. It used engine vacuum for the brake booster. As the car will probably weight more when it is done, I really need to keep the power brakes. I could make a reservoir out of ABS pipe so I might be able to get away with a smaller pump. Whats important to me is automatic on and off.
