Potential Darwin Award Candidate

Frank Patti, 26, of West Islip ... was riding west on the unregistered 2006 Kawasaki bike when he saw the two officers parked at a service station, according to a police report. "Patti looked at the officers, raised his middle finger in their direction, brought the motorcycle up onto the back wheel, a maneuver often referred to as a 'wheelie,' and took off southbound at a high rate of speed," the report said. "He dangerously weaved in and out of traffic, changing lanes erratically. At Great Neck Road and Oak Street, he executed another wheelie and continued southbound."

Gee, when I'm driving my unregistered vehicles, I try to be a little more inconspicuous....

That is very common, it is commonly known that 1) it is difficult for a police car to catch a motorcycle and 2) most agencies have restrictive pursuit policies. It has become a game for people like that to intentionally attract law enforcement attention and then run from the officers. I have seen it personally a number of times.

Yeah, the bikes can almost always outrun the cops. A lot of police offices that can chase cars can't chase motorcycles, its simply no use. So the cops have to catch them when they're off the bike and nail em quick. I think they should be allowed to just drop them with buckshot if they run, them and all runners. It would put a stop to it pretty quickly I imagine.

If the cops are allowed to do that, then you have people crying "excessive force" all over the country. They can't win.

I usually take a little of that action in my own hands when I am in the mood. When I see one of those bikers come flying up behind me, I like to surprise them by a sudden lane change. A few times I swear the riders soiled their pants.

My defense if I ever cause one to flip: they came up with excessive speed and I never saw them. Bet you the law will be on my side.

I drive an umarked Impala and I do something very similar. When I see them coming up behind me I wait until they are close and then casually turn on my rear deck lights. The flashing red and blue causes a rapid decceleration.

Whenever I ride my bike in traffic I do not speed and give everybody a wide berth. Just being on a motorcycle gives some people an attitude.

this is kindof off topic but i was watching cops about a week ago and i believe they were in vegas.the cop they were riding with had had his leg amputated when him and a highschool buddy went out shooting one day and buddy shot him by mistake.so now he has an artificial leg.anyway they pulled over this black guy riding his bicycle after dark without a headlight.while talking to him the black guy took off running.turns out white guys can't jump but black guys can't out run a one legged cop.damn that was funny, and he let that guy know he got his ass kicked by a one legged cop.

I hate them, I see them buzzing around everywhere and there is always a story in the paper of someone dieing.

Just the other day I was stopped in traffic on I95 and some moron was riding one on the white line between lanes. If I saw him sooner I would have moved over, the 18 wheeler in front of me actualy tried to hit him but sadly missed. It would be the bikes fault anyway he wasn't in a lane, just say you didn't see him.

when my uncle lived in Cali he had a Ninja. He would ride between traffic when the highways were stopped, which was a majority of the time. One day he and his buddy were going like 25 mph on the line and his friend passed a pickup and then the jerk opened the door on my uncle. He hit the door and wound up on the ground. The a hole laughs in his face. My uncle procedded to get up and beat the living crap out of the guy.

My friend(two houses over) rides a honda crotch rocket. Sometimes in traffic people like to harass bike riders so he wears chain on his boots. Last time he had an issue some jerk in an H2 tried to squish him between a bus.. so my friend fought back and kicked the guys truck, dented the fender and ripped the mirror off...

If someone tried to hurt me like that you bet I am going to cause them some harm... might be a scratched fender or a broken window... but no one screws with my life.

Well they shouldn't be riding where they are not supposed to be, break the law and don't cry when it bites you. If you value your life ride in a lane like every other vehical on the road. They are not in a lane so if you hit them, they would be at fault.

As for the fighting I have no desire.
