Almost killed myself today...

I did an amazing fall down the stairs, it would have made a really cool Youtube video!:D I tripped over the dog at the top and went flying with the dog. It was cool for 1/10 of a second until I realized that landing was going to suck. So I actualy managed to roll so the dog was on top of me, awsome Ninja move if I may say, than I crashed into the landing at the bottom, not an awsome Ninja landing... The dog landed on top of me, thankfully I broke her fall and she took off.:D I put my right shoulder threw the wall and now have to fix about a 10in hole, luckly I missed the stud!:D I sat there for about 5 minutes kind of like WTF just happend, and trying to figure out how I was going to call 911 if my hip was broken since no phone was close. Luckly I'm 22 so my leg started to work again after a bit! Sweet!:D Just stunned.

Broken bones 0, bruises, feels like 3 nice ones forming, and a stubbed toe.

I guess drinking all that milk when I was little has paid off, I have had a few falls where I should have broke stuff and didn't.

If you drank more you'd have more practice at this and wouldn't have gotten bruised.....

Hattie, what do you say when people ask you about the bruises I give you?

A friend of mine's brother came home from curling one evening...he come in the front door (split level entry-way...6 to the basement, 6 to the upper floor), set his stone down, slipped, snapped his ankle, fell down the 6 and snapped his neck...

His wife found his stone by the front door, still ajar, and found him at the bottom of the stairs, stiff.

Autopsy showed that the neck snapping killed him instantly...they don't believe he even realized he was falling...

BAC? 0.16.

Neighbor's husband fell 7 feet off a ladder...snapped his neck...just coming off the roof from cleaning leaves out of a gutter...missed one step, slipped through the opening, spun backward and landed REALLY WRONG...

Gone.

Sad...

Hat...watch yourself...I don't think anyone wants to hear about you...after the fact...

I fell down the stairs to my bedroom 9 weeks ago. Not a spectacular fall but broke my foot and a vertebrae. Still wearing a corset brace for my back, not very comfortable.
Stairs can be dangerous!

If you make a nasty fall, always go to a good hospital and have them x-ray your back.
After I fell I called my house doctor, he thought I had just some bruised ribs. Because of my foot I went to the first aid, they made x-rays of my ribs and tried to fix my foot. This proved to be to difficult and I was admitted for surgery. The surgeon that put some metalwork in my foot was the first who looked properly at my back (started poking it, rather painful). He ordered new x-rays and found a broken vertebrae. Later he explained that broken vertebrae are usually unnoticed until it is to late. Vertebrae can brake under compression, you don’t have to fall on your back. The result is chronic back pain and unpleasant operations.

Oh wow, do you remember when you almost got killed a few weeks ago? I believe your car almost left the road, now that was a scary incident.

Hey experience is doing something really stupid and living to tell about it.

I met a guy a few years ago on passatworld that broke his right foot and ankle at the same time. Helping his parents move, he stepped wrong carrying an aquarium down the steps. Snapped his ankle. As he was falling, he dropped the fish tank on his foot....

I personally tripped running UP the basement steps of the house I lived in for 28 years. Hit the wall head first. I remember hearing Marv Albert's voice as I was tumbling towards it: He's down !! He's out !!!

You know what they say, it's not the fall that gets you, it's that damn suddent stop!!!:D

Hatty- glad you and the dog are o.k.

MattBelliveau 05-13-2008 11:52 AM

You know, as hard as it is not to laugh, and as many times as I've fallen, somehow I still feel that seeing someone fall down stairs is gravity's gift to comedy.
