Gout, any sufferer?

It is the most painful thing I ever have. It has been two weeks now and I am ready to chop my big toe off. The meds made me so sick I had to stop taking them. The choice of throwing up and diarrhea vs the pain, not sure which one is worse.

Partly was my fault. It was just about to go away after a week of excruciating pain then I had to play host and took customers out to lunch, and of all places, they wanted seafood. Maryland crab specifically. I avoided the crap but ordered a oyster sandwich instead hoping the oyster God would have mercy on me. Nope, I was in a fetal position shivering from pain Tuesday night. The join had flared up to what it was again making shoes are an unbearable torture apparatus.

What are some natural remedies you all have used to ease the pain? No, I am not going to smoke some pots.

Vodka?

What is gout and how do you get it? I thought it was something old people got from eating liver and cat food?

I've heard that gout medicine is supposed to clear it up very quickly. Are you sure your Doc is prescribing the correct stuff? Maybe you have something else!

Drink plenty of water, stay away from gravies (and booze and red meat, of course), don't go on a crash diet. Try cherry juice.

Gout is a build up of uric acid crystals in the joints. The body's inability to break down purines fast enough, has something to do with it - which is why a crash diet can hurt.

Yes, but the meds also make me sick as a dog. It clearly states that is the side effects. Even the doctor warned me.

It affects millions of people each year, especially men from ages 30 and up. Women don't usually get it till after their menopause. It is a form of arthritis. Only rich old men have gout is misleading. I am neither rich nor old. Just bad luck.

Speak to your doctor and ask if there is a different med that can be prescribed.......explain your problems with their first selection.

Berries does it for me. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries. Eat them all in large quantities. Make a smoothie with bananas, milk, and orange juice to make it palatable.

Avoid alcohol as this will only worsen it.
