ABC Picks Up "Scrubs"

More rants from Dr. Cox!

ABC has picked up “Scrubs,” which NBC canceled after what was supposed to be its seventh and final season. The single-camera comedy, produced by ABC Studios, would have ended its run this month, but NBC chose not to produce the final six episodes. Now, it will air in midseason at 9 p.m. Tuesdays.

I have to admit that Scrubs has become regular DVR material. Last week's episode still has me rewinding/playing the opening sequence with JD in a Jester costume. "Does this hat make me look flyeth? It jingles when I shaketh." So so funny. My better half just shakes her head at me (no, it doesn't jingle).

I came around a bit late to the show - I try not to watch too much tv, but enjoy random re-runs as much as the new episodes now.

Glad to hear it will survive. NBC seems intent upon cannibalizing the USA network (NBC farm team) for hits- and sending down shows (players) who need some rehab (L&O Criminal Intent). They have some decent offerings, but haven't recovered since Seinfeld departed.

My wife and I seem to have the uncanny knack for enjoying shows that end prematurely, maybe Scrubs will break that trend even though it'll be a different network?

Dr. Cox makes the show. I've talked briefly with John McGinely a couple times at some New York City Buddy Walks (he has also has a son with Down syndrome-Max, 11) and seems like a great, approachable guy. It's funny when you get used to a person in character and then see them when they're out of it.

I admit to being present at a couple rewinds of that sequence!

I've watched the show a few times and still don't "get" that sort of humor. How would one describe it?

While most of the show panders to adolescent pop culture humor, there are at least one or two moments per show that manage to stand out, either with witty comedy or insight.

The Michael J. Fox episodes and the episode where Dr. Cox's brother in law dies were great moments for a sitcom.

It's often wedged up against 30 Rock, so I catch it on occasion. Funny, but can't hold a candle to 30 Rock. I love The Office as well, and My Name is Earl is entertaining at times.

The only network sitcom I find funny is The Office. One of the funniest shows in a long, long time.

For some reason I find that show down right painful to watch.
