Indiana Office Vandalised

I had no idea the Indiana Office got vandalised. People say Mr Obama plays the race card, but his campaign didn't want to let the story out.

Kokomo sounds like a horrible place. I read that the people of Kokomo didn't want to let a little boy attend public school because he had AIDS. Martinsville sounds like it belongs in 1950s Mississippi. Very bad

I'm not sure what Obama and his supporters expected after Michelle Obama and Reverend Wright both stated that they disliked white people! And I'm being polite to what they really said.

You are an insensitive racist for mentioning anything that denigrates Barak Hussein Obama.

Oh, I'm sure they expected it. They expected it even before the reverend Wright affair.

I am certain they knew it would happen.

I think that's in Lafayette. I really can't imagine that sort of thing happening in Lafayette, but you never no.

They were gone two days after the election. It was like brigadoon. I did not see or hear of any racist actions but the door to door folks no doubt met up with some. Its out there. Everybody I had contact with were very respectful and business like and friendly. I knew some of the volunteers too. about 95% white vols by my observation.

Kokomo is a very economically depressed area. It is an old automobile industry city with one big plant left that is rumored to be soon to close.

There is a failry large population of african american folks there.

I did a large church addition there about 8 years back for an african american congregation.

I can imagine there is some strong Klan like activity there too.

I don't know much about Martinsville except that it is in Indiana.

Well, supposedly most blacks who have grown up in Indiana remember stories their parents told them about never venturing into Martinsville, it was on NPR.

It's a shame the white volunteers experienced such negativity, I wonder how this will affect their views of America.

Some of the white West Virginians they interviewed on NPR today were disgusting, I'm surprised such people still exist

There was a black man lynched in Marion Indiana in the thirties.

When I was on the school board here (bout ten years ago) I introduced a motion to make MLK's birthday a school holiday.

Not long after that my brother in law's niece's husband (who lives in Kokomo) who is half native american came up and gave me a raft of crap about it. He was pissed that there were no native american hero's days off, IIRC.

I think as bad as our country treated african slaves, clearly the genocide of the native americans was worse.

The (any for that matter) election season brings out the good, the bad and the really bug-ugly...

The LCRP (La Crosse County Republican Party) office got hit...or so it seemed...

Turned out, some gang/chicken-banger wannabe was "tagging" the downtown Sunday night...he just happened to start at the LCRP building and moved on down the street...this was AFTER he had been nailed for the same type of thing last Friday evening. Then, he was booked and released on a signature-bond Saturday morning...

However, this time, as he was coming out of an alley with his can of blue...the Man-In-Blue was standing right there...caught him blue-fingered and blue-handed...

Now, he's being sent to the wacko-floor at one of the local hospitals...seems he didn't quite "get it" when told to stop...

Will it get ugly? I suppose the chances are more probable if there are campaign offices in college towns...but if there's any hinkiness going on, I only hope it's minor and it's not attributed to any local party...just some loner wack-zoid-phringer (usually lives on the edge of reality!) acting out on some request from the voice(s) in their head...

Lafayette is a fairly sedate place. I lock my doors but lots of folks don't. No matter how good a place is there are fringe personalities out there who have their own views of reality (certainly we do here on SF as well).

Nearly ten years ago now somebody with a beef drove a pickup loaded with a fertilizer bomb into the East door of our courthouse (across the street from my office) in a failed effort to blow it up. The bomb fizzled.

If it had gone off it would have been intersesting to see the results of a bomb on the old girl since she is solid limestone and the lowest levels have walls nearly three feet thick.

Anyway, despite the FBI being involved in the investigation it remains unsolved. I was interviewed once by an FBI agent who asked a lot of questions about an electrician who had done a lot of work for me.

At the time I doubed he could have been involved but now?.....well, you never know, he is a strange fellow. Very congenial and an excellent electrician and all around mechanic, though.

You just never know what folks will do.
