Sold a part and now a dilema...
I sold a motorcycle part recently. I originally had it post on FleaBay and it did not meet reserve. Somebody contacted me after the auction and offered some money. After a few weeks I email him back and accepted the offer. He sent me the money via PayPal and told me he was going to fax me a UPS slip to tape on the box. Shipping paid by him.
It has been two weeks and I have the money and he hasn't sent me a shipping slip. I have sent several email or notices via Ebay, PayPayl and my personal email about where to fax the slip. NOTHING. I know I should (and will) make several more attempts to contact. But theoretically how long should I wait? I want to get rid of this part.

You have the money, you have the part. You have emailed the buyer several times. You have done everthing you can do. It's a motorcycle part, how much space does it take up? Put it away, wait for a response from the buyer. He will get back to you. Just chill.

Or you could sell the part and if he contacts you you can refund the money to the first guy.
But you might find out he has been in the hospital and not in any condition to respond. I would probably take the approach suggested in the post above unless there is a compelling reason to move it out quickly. Tom W

I agree with 450slcguy and I have been similar situations. If you need to part with the part then send the buyer an email that states a response is required in (you decide) days. If no response refund the money and resell it.
Ebay can be a pain but it can be worse. I just had a guy who bought a motorcycle gas tank from me with a no return/no refund/sale is final policy. He complains the tank does not fit his piece of crap mixed parts motorcycle and leaves me negative feedback. I take the tank back with a refund minus shipping and the guy is still upset. The tank was resold to a happy buyer. Sometimes you cannnot win with people.

I have had to refund for various reasons through PayPal. Ebay will back you up by refunding your fees too. Just go your PayPal account and look for the refund link. This will give you peace of mind and allow you to relist the part. Remember, with the refund process all fees are removed as well. You lose nothing but time. Good luck.

Keep it and the money. After 6 months, relist and keep the money for your storage fee. In the meantime, send him reminders.

This is why I hate selling stuff. I would throw the tank in the scrap pile, send him his money back, and have a beer.
